The Holy Spirit Holy – Part 3

Michael continues: According to Ephesians 5:3Among you let there be not even a hint of sexual immorality. Thank God for 1 John 1:9if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Freedom from the addiction [including sexual sin additions] to spiritual perversion requires an encounter with the Holy Spirit. The Apostle John said, “If we walk in the light as he is in the light, the blood of Jesus Christ will cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Jesus said, if you abide in my word you shall be my disciples indeed, and you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free. If the Son therefore shall set you free, then you shall be free indeed.

1 Corinthians 6:9-10 “Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.” Three of the nine sins listed in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 are related to sexual immorality. The Apostle Paul said, those who practice these things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. This mirrored Galatians 5:19-21. Reading these verses in Canada would be grounds for arrest for violating the laws against “hate speech.”

Ephesians 2:1-3 “And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.”

The solution to the sins listed in 1 Corinthians 6 is found in verse 11: “And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God. The riches of the glory of the mystery that God had kept hidden until He revealed it to the Apostle Paul is this…. Christ in you the hope of glory. The gift of God’s Holy Spirit, Christ in you will cleanse you from all unrighteousness. For Jesus Christ, who was without sin, was made the perfect sacrifice for sin on our behalf that we may be made the righteousness of God in him.

Ephesians 2:4-10 “But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”

How do you get free from sexual perversion? The remedy is in 1 Corinthians 6:18-20. “Flee fornication.” You are not your own, you have been bought with a price. Don’t you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit? Therefore glorify God in your body which is God’s. God in His mercy, by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone, has set us apart, sanctified and made us holy according to His divine design that we should live to the praise of the glory of His grace!

Your brother in Christ, Michael
