Kingdom Party Politics

Psalm 33:12 “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people He has chosen as His own inheritance.”

 

During the Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln was asked if God was on his side. “Sir, my concern is not whether God is on our side,” said the President, “my greatest concern is to be on God’s side, for God is always right.” 

 

During our recent evangelic community outreach through our church partnership with the nationwide Great Commission work of Saturate USA, we ‘ve discovered that many people have taken politics to the level of idol worship, where a political party has become their god to worship and follow. Listening to these politically-motivated individuals, they have focused on secular humanistic based upon corrupt moral foundations, choosing to follow that which is “right” in their own eyes, but “wrong” in the eyes of God because they have lost their moral compass – God and country. In My Party We Trust” is their motto. Are they on God’s side?

 

The Declaration of the Independence of the United States of America states, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness ... and for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.” It is a well established fact in Constitutional Convention records that the country was founded on the Creator God of the Bible.

 

On September 17, 1796, during his Farewell Address, President George Washington stated, “Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of Patriotism, who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness, these firmest props of the duties of men and citizens. The mere Politician, equally with the pious man, ought to respect and cherish them.” Religion, in its most comprehensive sense, includes a belief in the being and perfections of God, in the revelation of his will to man, in man's obligation to obey his commands, and in man's accountableness to God; and also true godliness or piety of life, with the practice of all moral duties. It therefore comprehends theology, as a system of doctrines or principles, as well as practical piety; for the practice of moral duties without a belief in a divine lawgiver, and without reference to his will or commands, is not religion. Religion is godliness or real piety in practice, consisting in the performance of all known duties to God and our fellow men, in obedience to divine command, or from love to God and his law. This is kingdom party politics. 

 

The Republic of the United States is a commonwealth; a state in which the exercise of the sovereign power is lodged in representatives elected by the people. In modern usage, it differs from a democracy or democratic state, in which the people exercise the powers of sovereignty in person. But, these citizens who live by their political affiliation do not desire elected representatives, only their party’s representatives, even if they are unethical, immoral, corrupt or ungodliness; one party government. Today, some people will be divinely justified by kingdom party politics while others will stand in opposition not only to their political opponents but to the very Creator and Sustainer of the Universe. 

 

The Republic of the United States is a commonwealth; a state in which the exercise of the sovereign power is lodged in representatives elected by the people. In modern usage, it differs from a democracy or democratic state, in which the people exercise the powers of sovereignty in person. Here are some basic principles for a nation where it’s national motto is “In God We Trust”. Principle number one: The Triune God is sovereign over the whole universe. He is sovereign over every area of life, not just the Church. This includes the government. Principle number two: The ultimate source of authority is not in the government or in the people; it’s in God. God has set government in place to enact and execute the laws He has given us in His Word—the moral laws of God. The authority of the government comes from God, and the government must answer to God. Principle number three: The government has limited authority and power. The government does not encompass all things. This means that if anyone in any sphere of activity oversteps his or her authority, the Christian has the obligation to disobey. If the government commands the Christian to do something contrary to the clear teaching of God’s Word, then the Christian must obey God and not humans. For our politics are in the kingdom of Heaven, and our allegiance to God and Country.
