Live and Let Die

Matthew 13:24-30 “Another parable He put forth to them, saying: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field; but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way. But when the grain had sprouted and produced a crop, then the tares also appeared. So the servants of the owner came and said to him, ‘Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?’ He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’ The servants said to him, ‘Do you want us then to go and gather them up?’ But he said, ‘No, lest while you gather up the tares you also uproot the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, “First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn.””

The motion picture “Live and Let Die” is a 1973 spy film. It was the eighth film in the James Bond series, and the first to star Roger Moore as the fictional MI6 agent James Bond. The song "Live and Let Die", written by McCartney along with his wife Linda and performed by their group Wings, was the first true rock and roll song used to open a Bond film. The title is a play on words, taken from the ancient idiom: “live and let live”, meaning to be tolerant of others.

The dictionary defines the word “tolerance” as being willing to put up with, endure, bear with those whose views, habits, customs or lifestyles are difference from yours without agreeing with them. Every Christians should be tolerant in the correct and historical meaning of that word. Live and let live; God will sort it all out. It is what Jesus means the parable of the Wheat and Tares, and in 1 Corinthians 13:7 where the Apostle Paul writes, “Love bears all things … endures all things.” But, we are now in a godless post-modern age and the “new tolerance” means this: Not only do you put up with and endure and bear with those who have different views, habits, customs and/or lifestyles than your own, but you must agree with their views, as well.

Furthermore, atheistic secular humanists demand you forget God and hold that their lifestyle is equally true and equally valid as your own and, therefore, there is no possible way that you could be intolerant because there is nothing to be intolerant of. Furthermore, you must even be willing to promote and endorse that other lifestyle, since it is allegedly every bit as good as yours. The new tolerance is tolerant of sin and intolerant of sovereign God, His authority, His holy Word as the standard of life, or His obedient Believers of the Gospel and Christian faith.

Hebrews 9:27 it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment.”

God is not tolerant of sin, however. Every single sin of whatever kind that is perpetrated on this earth will be punished by God. Every single sin that you have committed and I have committed will be punished by God, either on us in hell, or on Christ at Calvary. God is infinite justice. He cannot tolerate sin. He lives in a totally 100 percent spotless, pure and holy heaven. Sin is not tolerated there. Isaiah 5:20 says, ‘Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!”

Freedom and Liberty are found in repentance and Christ, not in lawless sin that says: live and let die! John 3:16-18 explains, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”

Jesus said in Matthew 25:31-40, “When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’ “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’”

1 John 5:11-13 “This is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.

Live and let live. In Christ, Brian
