The Bread of Life - Part 1

John 6:32-35 Jesus then said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, it is not Moses who has given you the bread out of heaven, but it is My Father who gives you the true bread out of heaven. For the bread of God is that which comes down out of heaven and gives life to the world.” Then they said to Him, “Lord, always give us this bread.” Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; the one who comes to Me will not be hungry, and the one who believes in Me will never be thirsty.

Pastor Herk finish out the year with a Sunday sermon message on this beloved passage of holy Scripture stating that Jesus Christ is the Bread of Life, and as we enter this new year, we should consider taking the Bread of Life. Bread is one of the most common foods to every nation and race around the world. This “staff of life” is a life staple that is taken far too much for granted as it is a basic component taken at virtually every meal. Therefore, it is life’s main source of sustenance. Shouldn’t Jesus be taken at every meal? There should be a meal that we sit down to without Jesus, appreciating Him for being a part of our life.

Matthew 16:11-12 How is it that you do not understand that I did not speak to you about bread? But beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.” Then they understood that He did not say to beware of the leaven of bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees. Yeast or leaven represented sin in the Jewish culture. The Matza bread of Israel was unleavened bread and represents Jesus as He was without sin.

John 6:27-29 Jesus answered them and said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate some of the loaves and were filled. Do not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that lasts for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you, for on Him the Father, God, has set His seal.” Therefore, they said to Him, “What are we to do, so that we may accomplish the works of God?” Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent.”Israelites couldn’t discern their Messiah, the Bread of Life, standing in front of them. Jesus is the true source of nourishment essential for life. Jesus is God’s divine provision for humanity. He is the sign from God that everyone is looking for.

God gave the nation Israel miraculous manna in the desert, daily bread from Heaven for temporal life. God gave the world the Bread of Life from Heaven for eternal life. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life.” Jesus is the true bread from Heaven that satisfies the hunger and strengthens the human soul. Jesus is all sufficient and our all sufficient Savior. He meets all of our needs for this life and the life to come in Heaven. Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.” The Bread of Life is sufficient enough (giving the spiritual basics of life) to give us strength to live for Him each and every day, never hungering or thirsting in their soul. Jesus said in Matthew 5:6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.

Let's continue Pastor Herk's message on "the Bread of Life" in the new post.

In Christ, Brian
