Protect our Children

Psalm 127:3 “Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him.”

Children are precious gifts from God, and their protection is of utmost importance. As Christians, we are called to actively protect and care for children, ensuring their safety, well-being, and nurturing environment. It is  responsibility of parents in protecting children; safeguarding and nurturing the next generation.

Almighty God, our heavenly Father, created man and woman in His own image. We all have been design and equipped for procreation in nuclear family units, tied in the natural bond of Storge Love - “Familial Affection”. God created the family with a love of family. This is the type of care that exists between family members. The old saying goes: “blood is thicker than water”, so inherent storge love goes beyond an initial infatuation or attraction; it’s in the inborn DNA lineage and the emphasis is on genealogy devotion, heritage intimacy and ageless protection of family members. They are displayed to others at their deepest and most meaningful level when they grow out of a love for God first. Proverbs 14:26 tells us, “In the fear of the Lord there is strong confidence, and his children will have refuge.” Trust God.

Psalm 103:17-18 “But from everlasting to everlasting the Lord’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children—with those who keep his covenant and remember to obey his precepts.” The word “fear” is the Hebrew word “yir'â”, meaning the fear (of God - Jehovah), respect, reverence, and piety. Jesus Christ is the author of life and Lord of all, so to live is Christ. Families make community, but the raising of children, provision, and protection by the parents in the fear of the Lord. Proverbs 22:6 instructs us, “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” Obey God.

But, the Christian family must be keenly aware that in this fallen world of unbelief and rebellion against their sovereign Maker, who are dead in trespasses and sins, in which they walk according to the course of this God-rejecting world, according to the prince of the power of the air [the devil], the demonic spirit who now works in the sons and daughters of disobedience, conducting themselves in the lusts of their fallen flesh, fulfilling the desires of the immoral flesh and of the depraved mind that every intent of the thoughts of their heart is only evil continually and are by nature children of wrath from God. Among their degenerate ranks, there are those who intentionally yearn to tempt, deceive, indoctrinate, groom and harm these precious little ones. Depend on God.

Proverbs 29:17 “Discipline your children, and they will give you peace; they will bring you the delights you desire.” Safeguarding from the wickedness of this lawless evil as a shield and nurturing in discipleship which following God and His sacred Word is the duty of the parent. Isaiah 54:13 declares, “All your children will be taught by the Lord, and great will be their peace.” But, we must be aware of the real danger around us constantly and be prepared to defend our children from them. The enemy uses iniquitous ideology and treacherous psychological indoctrination through subtly carefully crafted messages are being bombarded upon children’s impressionable minds to turn them away from God and family. Parents and grandparents beware, identify the threats, then stand up and fight for their defenseless children. The church needs to stand firm and united against the attacks on children happening as we speak. Protect our children.

Proverbs 17:6 “Children’s children are a crown to the aged, and parents are the pride of their children.” This is what God intended.

In Christ, Brian
