No Gray Areas

Romans 2:4-6 “Do you show contempt for the riches of His kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance? But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God’s wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed. God “will repay each person according to what they have done.”

When it comes to the Word, Will and Ways of God, everything is black and white. What the Lord tells us, teaches us, directs us and commands us to think, say and do must be willfully and joyfully obeyed. Jesus’ in John 17:17 prays to God the Father, “Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.” God’s word is the moral precepts, discourse, instruction, doctrine, and teachings given by God to separate us from profane ungodly things to consecrate to God and dedicate us to God. God sets the standard, not mankind.

Truth is that which is in reality, absolute in fact, certainly in creation and government of the universe, the cause of all the world's life both physical and ethical, and what is true in things appertaining to God and the duties of man, moral and religious truth. Psalm 18:28 says, “You, Lord, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light.” There are no gray areas with God.

But, there are those in this fallen world walking in sin, ignorance, hatred and unbelief that rebel against and oppose Almighty God, their Maker. Just the thought of the sovereign Creator of heaven and Earth offends the Hellbound [dead in their trespasses an d sins], and by association they hate the faithful believers of God and followers of Christ also. To acknowledge the Author of Life in omnipotent God is to be accountable to Him and His Word, and that is unthinkable in their debased, depraved and debauched evil mind. In John 3:19-20 Jesus explains, “This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed.” This “darkness” is defined as: those of ignorance respecting divine things and human duties, and the accompanying ungodliness and immorality, together with their consequent misery in hell. Willful darkness walking through life in darkness, rejecting the light of truth, declaring evil as good and calling the good of God evil. We see it plainly today.

The Apostle Paul proclaims in Ephesians 5:8-14, “For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord. Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. It is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. But everything exposed by the light becomes visible—and everything that is illuminated becomes a light. This is why it is said: “Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.” Righteously walk in the light of truth, as the Lord is in the light and lights the holy and healthy way which is right in the eyes of God. God reigns and there are no gray areas at all.

In Christ, Brian
