Memorial Day 2023

The 1826 original Noah Webster’s Dictionary of the English Language defines the word “ memorial” as: Preservative of memory. Contained in memory; as memorial possession. That which preserves the memory of something; anything that serves to keep in memory. A monument is a memorial of a deceased person, or of an event. The Lord's supper is a memorial of the death and sufferings of Christ. Christian Churches have names; some as memorials of peace, some of wisdom, some of the Trinity. Yes, Webster’s dictionary references the Lord’s Supper, Christ, the Christian church and the Trinity because America was founded as a Christian nation.

1 Thessalonians 1:2-4 “We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers, remembering without ceasing your work of faith, labor of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ in the sight of our God and Father, knowing, beloved brethren, your election by God.

Memorial Day (originally known as Decoration Day) is a federal holiday in the United States for honoring and mourning the U.S. military personnel who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. It is observed on the last Monday of May. From 1868 to 1970, it was observed on May 30.

Remember that freedom isn’t free. Honor those who served to secure and maintain your freedoms.

Happy Memorial Day

In Christ, Brian
