Live Like Jesus - Part 4

Revelation 20:10-15 tells us, “The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever. Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.”

Every person whose name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life has an obligation to do what Jesus would do if He was here, because He is... as He said in Matthew 28:20, “lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. Ambassador for Christ, do what He would do, be what He would be, say what He would say, love as He would love, and forgive as He would forgive.

Some people read the Bible to discover and know everything they can of God’s Word in obedient application and growth. Some people read the Bible and pretend not to understand so that they don’t have to observe everything that He has commanded.  Some people choose not to read the Bible for themselves and just rest on what little bit they hear on Sundays in church in the sermons, if they show up at all. There is nothing like Christian Fellowship, being in the body of Believers in Christ, life on life. Some people never know what God’s will is because they are never in His Word. Some people have two masters with one foot in the secular world and one foot in the church. Let go and let God. Some people go to a church that caters to fun, being popular, cool, trendy, exciting, entertaining rather than preaching God’s Word the way that God meant it to be preached and living like Jesus. Some people choose the pleasures of this world and interpersonal relationships rather than spending time in prayer, being closer in relationship to God, who loves them, cares for them, provides for them and protects them, whether aware or unaware of it. Have you allowed the Holy Spirit to work in you and through you?

Isaiah 61:1-3 “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, because the Lord has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn, to console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.”

What does it mean to live like Jesus in this world?  His entire time on earth was spent helping others. What are we supposed to do? How are we supposed to live like Jesus in this world?

Matthew 25:35-36 says, “for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.” God anointed Christ with the Holy Spirit and power then Jesus went around doing good. Help people where you see them needing help.

Romans 12:17 instructs us, Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men.” 1 Peter 3:8-9 confirms, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous; not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this.” We are supposed to live like Jesus and touch lives in our sphere of influence for God’s glory.

It is not about us; it’s all about God. Show the love of Christ to those around you. True Christians have been blessed and called to be a blessing to others. Called to pray for others. The Holy Spirit dwell within every “born again” Believer. Does everyone see Jesus in you? We have no Right to hide the Savior of the world, who came to seek and save the lost. We are supposed to show Jesus Christ to others., who do not know Him, so that they too may find forgiveness of sin and salvation at the foot of the Cross. God says, “Be like Jesus in essence and character, and live like Jesus. I want people to see Jesus in you.” God is saying this to you and I. He wants us to be an example for Christ. Though we may not be the “best” example, that should not stop us from trying to be the “best” example that we can be. The Holy Spirit helps us and prepares those in advance that we are ministering and being an example to. Try living like Jesus. Be salt and light, letting people see Jesus in you. Allow the Holy Spirit to fill you and guide you.

This fallen world will never see Jesus until we allow the Holy Spirit to guide us. Stop doing what you want to do, and start doing what we need to do for Christ’s sake. Are you wanting to do what God wants you to do? Be people of faith and prayer. Prayer changes things. Don’t be afraid to talk to God in prayer. He wants to hear from you, His child. Jesus prayed to His heavenly Father, so live like Jesus.

In Christ, Brian
