Fullness of Joy

Psalm 16:11 “You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

Joy is defined as: the passion or emotion excited by the acquisition or expectation of good; that excitement of pleasurable feelings which is caused by success, good fortune, the gratification of desire or some good possessed, or by a rational prospect of possessing what we love or desire; gladness; exultation; exhilaration of spirits. In the presence of the Lord there is soul contentment, spiritual peace and fulfilling joy.

Psalm 118:24 “This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.

Our Creator God is the designer and source of life, and His loving providence the passionate security of our soul. Almighty God is in control of His creation and nothing is impossible for the Lord of all. Proverbs 17:22 “A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

There is indescribable joy when person a saved from a life-threatening or certain death situation. Ultimately, all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God and the wages of sin is death. John 3:16-17 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” Therefore, the joy of our salvation by grace through faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the Cross as an atoning sacrifice for our sin is our greatest joy.

John 11:25-26 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?”

Romans 10:9 tells us “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Salvation and eternal life with the Lord brings continual fruit of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control) in passionate emotional stability found nowhere else.

Romans 15:13 “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.”

Fullness of joy in Christ, Brian
