Anything in My Name – Part 2

Psalm 37:4 “Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.”

Continuing Pastor Kyle’s message, he reminds us that the best results from God flow from the most genuine relationship with God. The more we take delight in the Lord, the more we will discover that what we desire most of all is a truer and more vital relationship with Him. That means making and spending time with your Heavenly Father in devotion and prayer for a healthy relationship and our spiritual well-being. The more time we spend, the closer we get to His heart and know His Will. 2 Chronicles 7:14 says, “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” When you delight yourself in the Lord, God’s desires your desires; they are aligned with Heaven’s desires and the Lord approves. God will give you the desires of your heart when your desires align with His desires.

Romans 12:2 “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

We are finite humans and sometimes our prayers are not in line with God. We sometimes obsess about things that we do not understand. James 4:3 says, “You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures.” Receiving the desires of our heart isn’t some kind of divine “name it and claim it” or reward system. Jesus tells us in Matthew 6:7-8, “And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words. Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him.” If we delight in God, if we focus our heart on God and God’s nature, if we love God with all that we are, then the desires of our heart will be transformed. We will stop being so concerned about our own “stuff” and will start to yearn for the things of God, for His truth and peace, for His justice and mercy. Our desires will begin to reflect God’s own desires for us and for this world. Thus we will want what God wants, and He will give that which is according to His will. Relationships are more important than results. Know that God’s will is always good, so lean on God things in Jesus’ name.

Matthew 6:7-8 “And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words. Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him.”

God will do anything for us when it is in alignment with His holy Word, Will and Way and requested in Christ’s name. Will we do anything for Him? God is good all the time. Our Heavenly Father loves and cares for you and me. Dedicate and devote yourself to the Lord and have the desire to carry on His ministry. What are the desires of your heart? Are you asking God for the “right” things? Are you ask at all?

1 John 5:14-15 “Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.”

Be sensitive to the Lord’s answers to your requests. The reply may be yes or no, later or I have something better in mind for you. In any case, embrace the Lord Jesus Christ in genuine relationship. You mean everything to Him!

In Christ, Brian
