John 20:29 Jesus
said to him, “Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed.
Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
Continuing Pastor Kyle’s
message, the second form of doubt & unbelief comes from a “lack of
understanding”. Proverbs 10:21 says,
“The lips of the righteous feed many, but fools die for lack of wisdom.”
God warns in Hosea 4:6, “My
people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected
knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me, because you have
forgotten the law of your God”. We ask why is their poverty, hunger,
sickness, evil and death in the world. We truly do not know just how great the
“Fall of Man” was because of original sin, which was doubting of God. Which
leads to the third type, which are “Believers struggling with sin in their
lives, masking it as unbelief, saying that they are “just dealing with doubts”.
Galatians
5:17 explains, “For the
flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are
contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.” We
wrestle with topics. Be honest, while walking in the Spirit. Self-check your
heart before the desires of the flesh harden it. The fourth form is Believers
with honest questions, trying to reconcile things in a godly manner. Get real; struggle,
pray and mediate as you work doubts out.
Romans 12:1-2 “I beseech you
therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a
living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable
service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be
transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove
what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
Pastor Kyle proposed three
things to keep in mind when dealing with unbelief and doubt. (1) Spiritual deconstruction
leads to nowhere. It is our Christian job to manage unprocessed issues, reel
ourselves back in and reconnect with God. Ask questions to tear down troubling
faith issues. How much do you read and study your Bible, serve in the ministry,
pray and worship? Jesus said in Matthew 6:21 “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Adore
and Treasure God!
Hebrews 10:24-25 “Let
us consider thoughtfully how we may encourage one another to love and to do
good deeds, not forsaking our meeting together as believers for worship
and instruction, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and
all the more faithfully as you see the day of Christ’s return approaching.”
(2) Spiritual disconnection
festers in isolation. This is a mindset of feeling distant from God and/or the
church, yet you will not find the answers you are looking for away from God and
His church. Just as the trash is the proper environment for stagnation and
growth of diseases, the Godless world system is fake and the perfect environment for sin,
unrighteousness and spiritual death. (3) You will always have unholy
perspectives that legitimize the wrong thoughts. You need the Word of god found
in the Holy Scriptures of the Bible to get the “right” instruction, the “right”
path in life, for the plan that God has for us.
John 12:44-48 Then
Jesus cried out and said, “He who believes in Me, believes not in
Me but in Him who sent Me. And he who sees Me sees Him who sent
Me. I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes
in Me should not abide in darkness. And if anyone hears My words and does
not believe, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the
world but to save the world. He who rejects Me, and does not receive My
words, has that which judges him—the word that I have spoken will judge him in
the last day.”
Next, Pastor Kyle suggested
three helpful things to do to get out of the fog of doubt. (A) Doubt your
doubts, not God. His Word, Will and Ways are higher than any of our own.
Remember that to believe in Jesus is to receive the light of Christ. (B) Tune into
the voices of faith which are on the other side of doubt. Listen to people who
have converted from doubting unbelief. You can experience the coming out of the
dark tunnel of doubt on and walking towards the light of Christ. (C) Take daily
action to step out of darkness and into the light of truth. Live the real life.
In Christ, Brian
