The Thankful Heart

This Sunday, we drove up to Bass Lake and attended the Little Church in the Pines Worship Service. Pastor Herk stated that “Thanksgiving” is  more than a holiday day that get off work, more than families gathering together, more than feasting on a great turkey dinner with all the trimmings, and more than prepping for great Black Friday sales. Ture thanksgiving is a lifestyle of daily gratitude for our many blessings (gifts, benefits or advantages; that which promotes temporal prosperity and welfare, or secures immortal felicity). The divine favor of God is the greatest blessing.

The lack of true thanksgiving leads to blindness, confusion and poor stewardship of heart. Entitlement is an enemy of the thankful heart. To believe that we are entitled to something is a lazy attitude. To feel that we have earned something leads to an unthankful heart also. We need to remember that it is God who created us, gives us our intellect and ability to work, provides all and sustains all. Due to our sin nature,  we are not worth of God’s steadfast love, marvelous mercy and amazing grace. Truly, it is by the grace of God go I. The Lord is right beside us every step in life, so if we do not feel His presence, who moved?

Ephesians 2:8-10 “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”

There hope, peace and contentment in thanksgiving, that we may do good in this world. The Lord has led us to Salvation through the Holy Spirit at work in our hearts. We are sustained by God’s mercies every day in food, shelter, clothes, health and protection. Redeemed unto Salvation Child of God, have a thankful heart because God is with you. Count your many blessings every day.

Have a blessed Thanksgiving.

In Christ, Brian
