Simple Creation

Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”

Answers in Genesis is an apologetics ministry, dedicated to helping Christians defend their faith and proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ effectively. We focus on providing answers to questions about the Bible—particularly the book of Genesis—regarding key issues such as creation, evolution, science, and the age of the earth.

Headquartered in Petersburg, Kym (next to Cincinnati, Ohio. It is the home of the Creation Museum and the full-sized Noah’s Ark Encounter exhibits, Lecture Halls, Gardens, Animal Encounter and even a zip line for a family fun and educating experience. We a son living in Michigan on the border of Ohio, I hope to visit this amazing place. Our Small Group Bible Study uses many of Answers in Genesis’ video studies and receive their Answers Insider monthly magazine with interesting feature stories and information.

One such articles within last month’s publication was titled “Creation – in the beginning”. Sometimes, we use words individually and never notice that they are actually part of a larger group. What do the words “Creation”, “Creature”, and “Creator” have in common? It is the word “create”. Genesis 1:1 could read: In the beginning the Creator created all of Creation, including all the creatures on earth. Genesis 1:1-2-7 gives an account of the history of the heavens and the earth by God’s creative work.

The article gives the reader the simple creation account as: God created the world and everything in it in six literal 24-hour days (by the literal definition of the Hebrew word “day”). His created light, divided the waters, separated the waters from the dry land, and brought forth vegetation. He created the heavens, the sun, the moon and the stars (the Cosmos). He created the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and the beasts of the field to roam the earth. Ultimately, God fashioned the pinnacle of His creation: mankind. Genesis 1:27 “So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.”

When God saw everything that He has made, He declared that it was “very good”. Genesis 1:31 “Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day.” The world that the Lord made was perfect – without sin, death, suffering, sickness, violence, or disease. That perfection was terribly marred by man’s sin and rebellion, but God will one day restore His creation through His Son. Jesus Christ. Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

As complex as creation and life truly is, it is simple creation and simple recreation by the Creator. It was taught and never forgot that in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
