Everlasting Life

Say goodbye to winter as the night sky transitions to spring | Space

In John 11:25-26 Jesus said to Martha, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”

American Founding Father Benjamin Franklin is famously quoted as saying, “In this world, nothing can be said to be certain except death and taxes.” Each tick of the clock is another second closer to our destiny to stand in front of Jesus at the Great White Throne Judgment and give an account of our lives as the books are opened - Revelation 20:11-13. The inescapable problem of sin is that the sentence is death and eternity in Hell. It is everyone’s issue because the default in every life guilty with sin is the second death. And, because of the default, no decision is a decision. But, God made a Plan of Salvation by repentance, belief and faith alone in Jesus Christ alone to pay for our many sins and in our life-changing choice to accept this free gift, we can receive redemption, forgiveness, reconciliation with God and being born again in regeneration by the Holy Spirit unto everlasting life in the kingdom of Heaven. Revelation 20:6 proclaims, “Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power.”

John 3:3-7 Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” the Pharisee Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God - [being “born again” is required for salvation and a heavenly destination. Jesus then explained the difference between the physical birth and the spiritual birth to which he was referring]. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ If you are born once then you die twice, but if you are born twice then you die only once.

Jesus Christ’s resurrection on that first Easter morning defeated sin and death, and became the resurrection of every born-again disciple [student/follower] of their Lord, the Savior of the world. They pass from death to life everlasting as a child of God and citizen of Heaven. Galatians 6:8 explains, “For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.” And all this by the finished work of Jesus Christ on the Cross for the remission of sin to all who repent, believe, receive and cleave to the Lord and walk in the Spirit, align with His holy Word, Will and Way.

John 3:14-18, 36 declares, “As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”

Jesus said in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” Here is the reality in Romans 6:3-4 “Do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.” Walk out of the Tomb with Jesus and walk into everlasting life.

In Christ, Brian
