Oikos: Evangelize – Part 3

Pastor Obie continues:

The fourth step in this evangelism is to “invite”. You invite them to experience the love, grace and forgiveness that God has for them. You can invite them to your church or a church event to experience the love of God though God’s people or you may (with the help of the Holy Spirit) have the opportunity to lead them in inviting Jesus into their heart as the Savior and Lord of their life. The beauty of the Great Commission is that it is the great co-mission. It’s not the great suggestion or the great omission in your life. This is the mission that God has given all Believers. Saving faith Believers make new Believers with saving faith that make Believers with saving faith, continuous advancing the kingdom and population of Heaven, while reducing the population of Hell. This is a “seek and save” co-mission in co-operation with the Lord and the power of the Holy Spirit (the One who changes people’s hearts). Invite them and leave the rest up to our wonder-working God.

One of the functions of the local church is to equip the saints for ministry. There are three evangelistic tools that Christian can have and use in this ministry of evangelism, when the opportunity presents itself. (1) The Roman’s Road – Four Verses that lay out God’s Plan of Salvation clearly. Romans 3:23 – All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, Romans 6:23 – The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 5:8 – But God demonstrates His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 10:9 – If you declare with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and with your mouth that you express your faith and are saved.

The next tool (2) is the ABC’s of evangelism. (A) Admit that you have sinned. (B) Believe that Jesus alone was sent by God and can save you from your sin. (C) Commit to follow and obey your Lord and Savior Jesus Christ every day of your live. The last tool of evangelism is to simply share your story of what God has done in your life. Nobody can argue with your personal experience. Broke down your story (1) How was your life before Christ in it? (2) How did you come to a saving knowledge of Christ? (3) How was and is your life after finding Christ?

The Main goal is that those lost in sin people that you know who do not know the Lord will find and believe in Jesus Christ (the Savior of the world) and meet Him at the foot of the Cross for forgiveness and salvation, establish a person relationship with Christ, begin their life-changing journey of faith filled with the Holy Spirit in their heart, experience the love of God and the power of Jesus in their lives. It all starts with evangelism, but the other side of the coin is discipleship (A learner; a scholar; one who receives or professes to receive instruction from another; A follower; an adherent to the doctrines of another. Hence the constant attendants of Christ were called his disciples; and hence all Christians are called his disciples, as they profess to learn and receive his doctrines and precepts). A disciple of Jesus Christ has made a lifelong commitment to live and love the way Jesus did and taught by word and example.

God can do an amazing work through you to touch the lives of those in your close-relationship circle in your sphere of influence for Christ. It just might be the last link in the chain for them to put their trust in the Lord. You have idea the spiritual and eternal impact of a personal invite to come meet Christ or Christ’s church. God changes lives for eternity. Live out the Great Commission in evangelism. Identify, Intercede, invest and invite.

In Christ, Brian
