This pandemic virus has caused a halt to just about every routine and norm of our daily lives. And for many, removed distractions to allow us to take an account of their live (physically, mentally and spiritually). With approximately 3.5 million confirmed infected and near 240 thousand confirmed deaths and rising daily, our mortality becomes a stark reality and where we are going to go when we die has become a very serious issue. So many precious souls have passed.

The United States of America’s Declaration of Independence, in speaking of Nature’s God states: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness”; acknowledging the God of the Bible. Our national Motto is “In God We Trust”. Our nation’s Plague of Allegiance proclaims that American is “One Nation Under God.”

But, Tim Wildmon of the American Family Association points out that secular progressives have been working for several decades to convince a large and influential segment of our society to utterly reject the God of the Bible. Thee Humanistic Atheist are constantly telling society that unrestrained, selfish, personal freedom is the path to a brighter future. Dr, Frank Wright of D. James Kennedy Ministries that there is a dramic departure from Biblical truth and we are now seeing a wide-scaled rejection of God’s Word as the authority for faith and practice. Along with a timid, self-censorship by Bible-believing Christians, we are now experiencing the emerging climate of censorship and even abusive hate-crime laws to overturn religious free speech and free exercise in this nation. These laws are not about protecting the freedom of people to live godless lives in Biblical infidelity, but about coercing everyone else to support, facilitate, and endorse such actions; drifting into political and theological liberalism and away from Biblical authority.

2 Corinthians 2:15-16 “For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing. To the one we are the aroma of death leading to death, and to the other the aroma of life leading to life.”

Those who are perishing say, what’s wrong with abortion infanticide, premarital sex fornication, extra-marital affairs adultery, same-sex attraction homosexuality, and atheism is not that they are sinful, but that others are sinfully opposed to them. All these are condemned in the Holy Bible. Rejecting God has brought deep division and moral decline in America. In 1863, President Abraham Lincoln recognized that same arrogance in his generation and called for a day of humiliation, fasting, and prayer. His official proclamation said: “We have forgotten God. We have forgotten the gracious hand which preserved us in peace and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us, and we have vainly imagined, in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own.”

Proverbs 16:18 “Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.”

Wright concludes, so here we are, living in a culture desperately in need of truth and a safe harbor of Biblical orthodoxy in this desperate time. The Gospel is the only power we have. Even if some leaders walk away from it, we dare not follow them. Standing for  truth requires standing on truth with Biblical fidelity. We boldly proclaim the power of the Gospel by standing on the truth that it alone is our only hope and has the power to transform lives, our nation, and our culture. People are openly seeking Biblical truth today as their soul cries out. Wildmon recommends that every Christians do all they can to challenge the dominant godless culture and convince all who will listen that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
