Leaning on the Lord - Part 1

Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

In a recent Sunday sermon, Pastor Kyle stated how important it is to know what in life you are leaning on. That it is especially important to know the stability of what you are leaning on before you lean on it; to know and trust that what you stand on or lean your full weight against is stable and strong.

Just as important is to know and trust “who” in life you are leaning on for support. Yet, we must understand that their support is only so strong, having limits and confines, so it is vitally important that supporters love and care, but point them also to their heavenly Father for the love, support and comfort that they are not able to provide. When people cannot lean on others, they need to know and trust that they can safely lean on the Lord. If we continually lean upon people for the support that only God can provide and supply, then we are going to end up disappointed in relationship after relationship because people can only do so much for us. We all hope to be a safe place for others to lean on when they are in need of support, but we are still only people with finite limitations. Therefore, live in and lean on God’s strength.

Pastor Kyle shares that it is his heartfelt prayer that that everyone encounters the living God of heaven and earth at every Sunday Worship Service. The church’s goal here is to create the environment where the Holy Spirit can move an the Lord can speak to everyone. The church’s pastors, staff and volunteers does their best to “set the table” by establishing the space and creating the mood to honor, praise and worship Almighty God in heart, soul and spirit.

Psalm 31:14-15 But as for me, I trust in You, O Lord, I say, “You are my God.” My times are in Your hand.”

The Lord, our God, may very well speak to us through a sermon message, spiritual music, spirit-filled prayer, the living Word of Holy Scripture or brotherly Christian interaction; ministering to us by sharing what we needed to hear and experience on that particular day and time.

Psalm 62:8 “Trust in Him at all times, O people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us.”

The fact of the matter is that people come to church to hear the gospel of their Savior and Lord Jesus Christ preached, to encounter their Maker, the living God, in power and strength and experience true spiritual life that penetrates the soul (heart, mind, body, will and emotion). Stop doing life on your own and start leaning on Him.

In Christ, Brian
