Isaiah 41:10 “Fear
not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your
God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My
righteous right hand.”
There seems to be so much to
be fearful of in the world today. Terrorists, Drug Cartels, deranged active
shooters, home invasion robbers, pandemic virus and influenza outbreaks,
existential threats and stock market crashes to name a few. The local and
national news sensationalize and escalate issues which drives widespread panic
and worry. The media sources has been given the nickname of “the Bad News”
because excitable people, in general, desire to hear the “dirty deeds” and
“horrific happenings” rather than the boring “good news”. But, the result is
mass hysteria as our heath and well-being are threatened. Fear factors can be
intentionally employed to control and direct the people or drive spending
behaviors. That is manufactured fearfulness and not of God.
2 Timothy 1:7 New “For God
has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound
mind.”
The God that created the
heavens and the earth, every atom and element, along with everything that lives
and breathes designed, fashioned and formed all with unity, peace and purpose.
Deterioration, decay and death entered into the physical world through sin and
the Fall of Mankind, but redemption, restoration and salvation is the goal, not
fear. Fear can drive us out of our mind and distract us from the solid
foundation of faith on the solid rock of belief in the All-powerful,
All-knowing and ever-present Lord of all, who is in control of every situation.
Matthew 16:16-18 Simon Peter
replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living
God.” And Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah!
For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who
is in heaven. And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this
rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall
not prevail against it.”
Times and events may seem
out-of-control at times, but nothing is out of the control of our Creator and
Heavenly Father. When our world gets sideways or turns upside down, we need to take
a step back for a moment and turn to our living God in fervent prayer. This big
bad world doesn’t owe us a things and has no ultimate power over the child of
God and citizen of the kingdom of Heaven. How big is our God? The problems of
the world are nothing in comparison, so why fear and worry ourselves over them?
Christ has overcome the world. The Lord, our God, is for us. Maybe, we should
start living like it.
Romans 8:31 “What
then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can
be against us?”
Go in the peace of Christ
and boldly proclaiming the unstoppable gospel of Jesus Christ in faith, hope
and love, in the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit and the righteous hand of
Almighty God.
In Christ, Brian
