Seducing Spirits

1 Timothy 4:1 “Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils.”

We are getting close to the second most celebrated holiday of the year – Halloween (the one holiday that nobody actually knows what is being celebrated)  - "All Saints Sunday". The funny thing is that demon spirits and devils of fallen angles actually exist and bring seductive temptations of sin.

This bible verse’s very cogent warning by the Holy Spirit, spoken “expressly” for those living in the latter days, predicts an unusual outbreak of deceiving seductive demonism — not just in pagan cultures, idol-worshipping cultures, or animistic (1. The belief in the existence of individual spirits that inhabit natural objects and phenomena. 2. The belief in the existence of spiritual beings that are separable or separate from bodies) cultures, but in “Christian” nations, where they can lead many to “depart from the faith” which their forefathers once professed. Christians, therefore, should not be taken by surprise at the vast eruption of witchcraft, New Age mysticism, Eastern occultism, desensitized demonism, drug-induced fantasies, altered states of consciousness, and even overt Satan-worshipping cults that have suddenly proliferated in our supposedly scientific and naturalistic society. Behind it all are the “seducing spirits” and “the rulers of the darkness of this world”.

1 Corinthians 10:20b says, “I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils”

2 Corinthians 6:16-17 And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will dwell in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they shall be My people.” Therefore, “Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you.”

Dr. Henry Morris states that it should be obvious that Christians must completely avoid all such beliefs and practices. Even “innocent” fun have often led to dangerous demonic influences in the lives of Christian people, as well as in Christians who have sought supernatural experiences or revelations. In anything that even touches on occultism or demonic influence, the advice of Peter in 1 Peter 5:8-9 is relevant. “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.”

Do not under-estimate the Adversary Satan. Don’t play with fire; you’ll get burned. Resist seducing spirits and walk in the Spirit of God, aligned with His perfect Word, Will and Way.

Blessings in Christ
