The Way

  

John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

 

This last week, our weekly Bible Study group continued in our video series “Knowing Christ” by Theologian RC Sproul on the “I Am” statements on Jesus in the Gospels. This verse has always been a foundational profession  that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God and the wages of that sin is justify and deserved death, separation from God and eternal damnation in Hell, but also (1) there is a way to forgiveness, (2) a way to redemption, (3) a way to reconciliation, and (4) an atonement to pay for that sin by one way in Jesus Christ – the Savior of the world. The amazing thing is not that there isn’t multiple ways to get out of Hell and get into heaven, but that there is any way at all. Our Creator was justified to condemn sinners for their sins, because all sin must be paid for and were by nature children of wrath. 

 

Ephesians 2:4-8 declares, “But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.” God is love and God is merciful, therefore God gives grace (which we do not deserve) by sending His only begotten Son to die for the sins of the world, offers salvation to those who repent of sin, trust as truth, believe by faith and cleave as the only Way, because no one comes to the Father except through Him alone. 

 

In Matthew 7:13-14, the Lord Jesus instructs us all to: “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. Jesus Christ is the narrow gate to access heaven. Jesus Christ is the only path to the kingdom of heaven and God, and Jesus Christ is the Way to get there; the One Way, the only way provided by the grace of God to Believers. Jesus Christ is the Gift of God given freely, but must be accepted and received willfully and whole-heartedly. Jesus Christ is the truth, the Gospel truth because He is truth itself; the whole truth and nothing but the truth. And Jesus Christ is the life; He came to conquer sin and death that the saved by faith may have life, and have it to the full, for He is life itself.

Jesus proclaimed in John 3:16-17, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” By no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
