Spirit

Galatians 5:13-18 For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another! I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.”

At the transformational conformation of the born-again Believer, they are given the indwelling Holy Spirit, not just to be a Helper to, counsel and guide the child of God, but to empower, defend and pray for the disciple also. Since the Fall of Man in the Garden of Eden, the sinful desires of the flesh control the mind and body of the natural man. We have all been born with the lustful and alluring temptations, which lead us to the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery [drug abuse], hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God (Galatians 5:19-21).

Everyone knows the they cannot escape the sinful desires of the flesh, which is with each of us always. But, the justified and sanctified Christian is given spiritual discernment in the heart of the regenerated spirit of man and restoration of relationship with our Creator Father God through the Holy Spirit within us. The Holy Spirit doesn’t join our life to co-exist together as sinner and saint. The Holy Spirit (with the power that raised Jesus Christ from the grave] is in us and with us every second. Do you realize that fact? And, if you walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh, which means that you cannot sin when we live by the Spirit in a Spirit-led and Spirit-filled life. He will never lead us into sin. The alluring distractions and temptations are always there, but they are walking through life in tune with the Spirit in righteousness, following God’s pure word, will and way.

So, the Spirit empowers the children of God with divine courage, strength, confidence, assurance and Heaven’s mission-mindedness. Therefore, we fear not of the flesh, the world of the devil. Put on the full armor of God and stand firm. Walk in the Spirit and abide there!

In Christ, Brian
