According to the Spirit

Romans 8:1-13 “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God. But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. Therefore, brethren, we are debtors—not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live."

In John 3:16-18 Jesus declares, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. The Lord explains that all of fallen mankind, who naturally live in sin and continuously walk according to their sinful flesh desires are already condemned to eternal damnation in Hell (the second death) by their trespasses, inequity and sin. Many do not know this fact – the default is Hell. Jesus Christ (sent by God the Father as the One Way and only Savior of the world), is the Redeemer of mankind to those who by faith believe God and His plan of Salvation from Hell, whole-heartedly repent of their sins, accept the gift of God in the atoning death of Jesus Christ on the cross to pay for their sins, and surrender their life totally to follow Him as Lord, thereby receiving the indwelling the very Holy Spirit that converted and sanctified their soul, regenerated their spirit for spiritual discernment, reconciled their spiritual connection to their almighty Creator, transformed their heart for restoration to love their heavenly Father, adopts them into the family of God and declares them citizen of the kingdom of Heaven. It’s amazing because God grace is amazing.

But those who reject God, His plan of Salvation, and His free gift offer to all of a Savior, they remain in their sin, being subject to God’s Law, condemned to eternal damnation in Hell after their physical death, and will never have spiritual discernment or know real love, joy, peace or true life. It is said that to those who believe, repent and accept Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, life on this side of eternity is the closest to Hell that they will ever get, but to those who do not believe, continue to willfully live in their sin and reject Jesus as Savior and Lord, life on this side of eternity is the closest to Heaven that they will ever get. Choose Jesus and live, then walk constantly according to the Spirit.

In Galatians 5:16, 24-25 the Apostle Paul  proclaims: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

In Christ, Brian
