Darkness and Light 2

Romans 3:20-25 “But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith.”

Continuing this word study of darkness from a biblical perspective, the second definition of the English word “darkness” is: 2. Obscurity (unrevealed, cannot be seen, incomprehensibility, vagueness, dimness, foggy); want of clearness or perspicuity (articulacy, clarity, fluency, lucidity); that quality or state which renders anything difficult to be understood (lacking enough facts to make an informed decision; missing all pieces of the puzzle). 2 Samuel 22:29 “For You, O Lord, are my lamp; the Lord illumines and

dispels my darkness.”

One of the worse feeling for me is to be “in the dark” on all the details or not having enough information, then making a wrong decision or judgment and “eating crow” (to acknowledge an embarrassing error and humiliatingly abase oneself in admitting having been proven wrong after taking a strong position). There is an old saying that we should “never jump to conclusions” (to guess the facts about a situation without having enough information, without sufficient thought or on incomplete evidence, to judge prematurely or decide something without having all the facts; to reach unwarranted conclusions). We all want transparency and truth for our knowledge, beliefs, daily interactions and decisions. To “live a lie” is to subsist in a false or deceptive way: to live in a way that does not show who one truly is or what one's feelings truly are; nobody wants that.

Psalm 18:28 “For You will light my lamp; the Lord my God will enlighten my darkness.”

Yet, there are things in life that we just do not know yet or legitimately are unclear or out of our sight, in obscurity, so we must use godly foreknowledge by teachings, training, experience, research, evidence, discernment, and wisdom by the illuminated information revealed that we do have to, along with prayer, to make good and sound decisions. Remember that in life, God’s green earth and the Cosmos, there is an infinite amount of knowledge to be learned and known … and we are finite with a capacity for what is revealed, brought to light, discovered and added true information to the knowledge base for our growth, wisdom, steadfast faith mental and spiritual wellbeing.

Isaiah 9:2 “The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, upon them a light has shined.”

God is infinite, Ever-present, All-powerful, All-knowing, and All-benevolent. On this side of glory, the living Word of God reveals and brings to light the ways of life, unveiling truth daily through prayerful communion (closeness, empathy, intimacy, relationship and spiritual union) with our Maker, so devotionally stay connected to the Lord through reading the Bible and Bible Study, asking for godly wisdom and spiritual discernment. 1 Corinthians 13:12 “For now we see in a mirror, dimly [obscured], but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.”

Isaiah 29:18-19 “In that day [of judgement, with implied restoration] the deaf shall hear the words of the book [the Holy Scriptures of the Bible – the Word of God], and the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity and out of darkness. The humble also shall increase their joy in the Lord, and the poor among men shall rejoice in the Holy One.”

Let's continue my biblical word study on "darkness" in the next post.

In the year of our Lord Jesus Christ - 2022 A.D.
