Dangerous Culture - Part 2

Psalm 119:1-8 “Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord! Blessed are those who keep His testimonies, who seek Him with the whole heart! They also do no iniquity; they walk in His ways. You have commanded us to keep Your precepts diligently. Oh, that my ways were directed
To keep Your statutes! Then I would not be ashamed, when I look into all Your commandments. I will praise You with uprightness of heart, when I learn Your righteous judgments. I will keep Your statutes; Oh, do not forsake me utterly!”

Continuing Pastor Herk’s message: Today, the secularized culture thinks nothing much of pre-marital sex and cohabitation (aka fornication), abortion on demand (aka infanticide), same-sex marriage (aka homosexuality, and legalized recreational drug use to get high (aka phamakia / witchcraft) – all banded by God’s Law, yet toleration of sin has allowed many Christian church biblical standards to become diluted by society’s immorality. It is now socially unacceptable to speak against any of these God condemned vices. Bible-believing Christians are told to obey your culture, go along with that which is evil in the eyes of God, maybe try them, embrace these sins or look the other way and keep their thoughts to themselves.

Judges 17:6 “In those days there was no king in Israel. Everyone did what was right in his own eyes.”

Does the culture we live in affect our interpretation of God’s Word? The more that society moves against biblical doctrine and further away from God’s authoritative Word to approve and participate in the secular humanist culture, the Bible means less and less. They dramatically develop an appetite to feast on the sinful desires of their hearts and believe they have no affect on their life, except sinful pleasure. They have rejected asking for forgiveness. Yet, the Word of God does not change and is the final authority from Creator God on how to live our lives. We are guilty of sin and the shame of sinning against a just and holy Father God.

Romans 6:22-23 “But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

What can one do to keep one’s ways pure? Acknowledge your sin, repent of your sin and turn from your sin. When we have doubts about biblical commands, pray about it and if unclean, obey literally. Choose to live through the eyes of the Holy Spirit, not the God-rejecting world system in our culture. Matthew 26:41 “Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Read, study and memorize Holy Scripture and hide the Word of God in your heart. Draw nearer to God as the moral compass of your life. Almighty God never changes and all Scripture is sacred.

If you allow the culture to dictate your beliefs, it will take you down the wrong path and away from your Lord God. If Sovereign God dictates your beliefs, then you will be blessed. It only matters what God thinks and told us in His Holy Word. Live your life God’s way and be a light for Christ in your culture.

In Christ, Brian
