Deuteronomy 30:10-18
If you obey the voice of the Lord your God,
to keep His commandments and His statutes which are written in this Book of the
Law, and if you
turn to the Lord your God
with all your heart and with all your soul. For this
commandment which I command you today is not too mysterious
for you, nor is it far
off. It is not in
heaven, that you should say, ‘Who will ascend into heaven for us and bring it
to us, that we may hear it and do it?’ Nor is it beyond
the sea, that you should say, ‘Who will go over the sea for us and bring it to
us, that we may hear it and do it?’ But the word is very near
you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may do it. “See, I
have set before you today life and good, death and evil, in that I command you today to love the Lord your God,
to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments, His statutes, and His
judgments, that you may live and multiply; and the Lord your God
will bless you in the land which you go to possess. But if your heart turns away so that you do not hear, and
are drawn away, and worship other gods and serve them, I announce to you today that you shall surely perish;
you shall not prolong your days in
the land which you cross over the Jordan to go in and possess.
I ran into this Old Testament passage of Moses and it reminded me that everything starts with Lord God and His Holy Word. He alone and His Word alone set the standards that blesses us, to be a blessing for others, bringing the light of the kingdom of God and His salvation in Jesus Christ into a world that chases other gods in darkness. We have choices today. Follow God, live for Christ, walk in the light of truth and righteousness, know that you are loved and bless others ... today.
1 John 1:6-7 If
we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do
not practice the truth. But
if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one
another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
In Christ, Brian
