Lighten Life’s Load - Part 2

I have the world's largest collection of seashells. I keep it on all the beaches of the global world... perhaps you've seen it. #SummerBeachPhotos

Pastor Kyle continues, declaring that God will always be there. At the same time, it breaks God’s heart when we keep doing the same sinful behaviors to hurt ourselves over and over again. Because God cares, Jesus broke the chains of our sins at the Cross. Believing that God cares about us is the foundation and opens our hearts to live differently. When we embrace this truth deep in our heart and soul, we can start to cast our cares upon Jesus and live differently.

Secondly, God says that it’s possible to have a heavy load and to live with a light yoke. In Matthew 11:28-30 the Lord Jesus said, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am [a]gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” God knows the load that you are caring right now. If we are going to live lighter under the same load, we need to learn to take Jesus’ yoke.

Some Christians are saved but are poor at managing the weight of our lives. They say that they are taking Jesus’ yoke but find themselves distracted by busyness and the cares of this world. One acronym for the word busy is: Being Under Satan’s Yoke. The Enemy wants your life to feel heavy. The devil is real and wants everything to seem impossible to overcome and achieve. This nemesis wants you dissatisfied and complaining about every inconvenience. The adversary wants you to act like every problem is the end of your world. That fallen foe wants every small issue sink your good day.

God says something totally different. The Lord says that it is possible to have a heavy load, but to live with a light yoke and an easy demeaner. That is what Jesus helps us to do. God wants to make the weight of your life feel light and more manageable to handle as you are strengthened in Him. God wants you to feel that purifying cathartic moment where you are under the heavy load of life but supernaturally lifted by His strength and power. Being true, why do some still walk around bogged down by life’s worries, anxieties and problems? Because, sometimes we have to go back to the basics.

Here are some basic steps to living with a lighter load. (1) Hurry up and stop. Life is inherently busy. We can be productive and love what we do, but few are good at stopping. Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” The context of this verse is describing how Believers should feel and what we should do when God is literally allowing the world around us to fall apart. The message that the psalmist is trying to communicate is that we can stop, even when the world is crumbling all around us.  When life feels heavy, some want to sink underneath the weight of everything. Others distract themselves by busyness and doing so they do not have to feel the the pain. One of the first lessons tht we can learn from Jesus on how to live lighter is to hurry up and stop. Sunday is a day of rest, so put the load down for a day.

1 Peter 5:8-9 “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world."

(2) Wait with the Word of God. We need the holy Scriptures to focus our thoughts. The Apostle Peter says that we need to wait and be watchful for the Lord to move, knowing the devil is coming after us roaring.  By sober-minded, he means that we should get all worked up all the time. We can be calm under the pressure and pain underneath life’s load. The Bible speaks to our soul and spirit, so wait with the Word in hand so we can stay on track.in this journey. Know that the same kinds of sufferings (be persecution or pandemic) are being experienced by our Christian brothers and sisters around the globe.

1 Peter 5:10-11 “But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.”

(3) Always keep in mind that God will get you through what you are going through and it won’t be forever. We will endure heavy loads on this side of Heaven, but they will not last, no matter what they are. Those loads that we learn to live under with Jesus’ yoke actually strengthen us and we can live lighter with them. There are two types of Christians. One groups allows the weight of this world’s trouble crush them, taking months or year to recover. The other group are those who are spiritually strong with a strengthen sense of fatigue where they can look back and say “man, that was hard but God carried the weight of that load with me and I got through it to the other side.”

Pastor Kyle want you to become spiritually strong  and fit through the hard times with God’s help. In the meantime, we can learn to live lighter while under the heavy load.
Cast your cast upon the Lord.

In Christ, Brian
