Pursue

My Tuesday Bible Study group continued in our video series titled "Forward" by Turning Point Ministries. The foundational truth of pursue is that, when you pursue godliness, righteousness and holiness with divine purpose, you find the core of who you are, with no reserve, no retreat,  & no regrets in the joy of your salvation and the Lord & Savior of your life.

Pursuing our Spirit-led dreams and associated goals change us in ways that we have never imagined. Our God-given purpose provides meaning, motivation and stability in our life's path. We need to be open to other opportunities opened to us by God. Share your dreams and godly goals to others, and their life application relevance based on your faith and Christian beliefs. We live in a fallen world in dire need of hope. Love your neighbor means to minister to others and meet their needs..

The Seven Steps to Pursue your God-given Purpose

1.    Present Yourself Totally to God

God did not put us on Earth for diversion, distraction or division. Be obedient to to God’s Word and be willing to be used by God. You are on the Earth (in this time and place) for a divine reason. Surrender all areas of your life to the Lord. Life is not about using God for your purposes, but about God using you for His purposes, and about the Lord showing you how you fit into His plan. Be “all in” on God's plan for you.

2.    Understand Your Uniqueness

God created you uniquely and distinctly from anyone else. Nobody else has your fingerprint and DNA from God. Only you have the particular plan God designed for your life. Within that framework, you have to be yourself; the person that God created you to be. Child of God, your heavenly Father loves you and always wants the best for you.

3.    Realize Your Responsibility

God has given you a spiritual gift – and with that gift comes a responsibility to use your gift to bless others and advance the Kingdom of Jesus Christ. Responsibility is your response to God’s ability. Jesus said in Matthew 5:14-15 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.” 1 Peter 4:10 tells us, “As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.”

4.    Pursue God’s Plan for Your Life

Run the direction that your godly plan leads you. When you sense the direction that God is leading you, do not be apathetic or passive about it; be motivated by it. Look for the next steps and take them. If you are not dead, then you are not done; God has more for you to do. The prayer of Psalm 119:133 says, “Direct my steps by Your word, and let no iniquity have dominion over me.”

5.    Obey Orders from God’s Word

You will need instructions for this journey through life and God’s instruction manual is the Bible. John 17:17 proclaims, “Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.” We study the Bible not for head-knowledge, butnin order to do what it says. God will show you what to do. Find your own process to devote yourself to reading the Holy Scriptures. Learn to love the Word of God. Psalm 1:1-2 declares, “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night.”

6.    Serve Others Selflessly

You can never truly find purpose in life until you obey the Great Commission from Jesus. In Matthew 28:18-20 Jesus said, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. The purpose of Christ’s universal Church is to equip and prepare the saints (born-again Believers who have been sanctified) to take the whole Gospel of Salvation to the whole lost, dying in sin and needy of a Savior world that is looking for hope. Share the Good News of Jesus Christ and fill the emptiness. The greatest continuing joy of being a Christian is the joy of sharing Christ to others and reducing the population of Hell.

7.    Experience Eternal Life

God’s ultimate purpose for you is to experience, enjoy, and embody the abundant and                                 eternal life that Jesus died to bestow on you. When does eternal life begin? The minute you     first believe. Romans 10:9-11 promises, “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” Jesus said in John 17:3 “And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.” The moment that you put your trust in Jesus as Savior and Lord, you are not waiting for eternal life; you are living eternal life. When you accept Christ, you get life. In order to get out of emptiness and into purpose, you have to go through Jesus. He said in John 14:6 Jesus, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

Pursue godliness, know that you are blessed and be a blessing to others.

In Christ, Brian
