Distributors of the Bread of Life - Part 2

John 6:35 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.”

Michael continues: We are called to be “distributors” not manufacturers of the Word. We’re to distribute the bread of life. When Jesus instituted the sacrament of Communion in Luke 22:19, He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying,
“This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” Jesus Christ is the bread of life which was broken for us. He was broken like a flask of perfume to permeate the church, the body of Christ, like a sweet smelling fragrance unto God.

According to John 6:22-28, On the following day, when the people who were standing on the other side of the sea saw that there was no other boat there, except that one which His disciples had entered, and that Jesus had not entered the boat with His disciples, but His disciples had gone away alone — however, other boats came from Tiberias, near the place where they ate bread after the Lord had given thanks — when the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, nor His disciples, they also got into boats and came to Capernaum, seeking Jesus. And when they found Him on the other side of the sea, they said to Him, “Rabbi, when did You come here?” Jesus answered them and said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw the signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled. Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him.” Then they said to Him, “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?”

They sincerely wanted to know how to further God’s kingdom. The answer is in verse 29: “Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.” The freedom is in believing in the Lord Jesus Christ. Believing in Jesus, the Christ, the Son of the living God is the work of God.

God is a God of reconciliation and restoration. Continuing in John 6:30-32, Therefore they said to Him, “What sign will You perform then, that we may see it and believe You? What work will You do? Our fathers ate the manna in the desert; as it is written, ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’ ” Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.

What can we do to distribute the true bread from heaven, the bread of life? According to Verses 6-8 of 2 Timothy 4, Paul said by revelation, “For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.” Therefore, watch and pray.

In the Old Testament, Ezekiel 33 says that the watchman was responsible to warn the people when the enemy approached. If the watchman blew the trumpet and the people did not heed the warning, then the blood of the people would be on their own hands. However, if the watchman failed to sound the alarm, the blood of the people would be on the watchman’s hands. As men and women of God we’re called to sound the alarm. There are godless attacks of the Word Will, Way and Authority of Almighty God today. The battle is a spiritual battle. As watchmen on the wall, in the hedge of God’s protection, we need to watch, pray, sound the alarm and warn God’s people of the enemy’s approach. To put on the full armor of God and defend the faith valiantly.

In Mark 16:15 Jesus said to us, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” Like the disciples distributed the loaves and the fishes to the multitude, our call is to distribute the bread of life ... the gospel of Jesus Christ. How do we distribute the word of God? Preach the Word of God, preach the Gospel of Salvation in Jesus Christ, and distribute the Bread of Life; be prepared in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and sound doctrine, that despite the enemy’s assaults, we may stand firm and ever live to the praise of the glory of His grace!

Your brother in Christ, Michael
