In Mission - Part 2

Acts 1:7-8 He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and

Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Pastor Herk states that the word “go” is defined as: In a general sense, to move, but in the Great Commission of our Lord Jesus Christ, it has the secondary meaning to depart; to move from a place; opposed to come. It assumes that you are leaving immediately and proceeding in mission into the world and making opportunities to witness for Christ and His Gospel, along with your personal testimony as you go. How important is it to be his disciples? Jesus commissioned us all to go do it as our mission. Start where you live, but get up, move out and reach out to all peoples and races. Distinctions only exist in our minds – exclusive differences vs. inclusive unity in Christ in one blood. God’s people, as disciples and the body of Christ, have an obligation and responsibility to have everyone possible hear God’s plan of Salvation through Christ’s Gospel for the forgiveness of Sin. By what authority? The Lord’s Commission as Ambassadors of Christ.

2 Corinthians 5:19-21 “In Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”

We are blessed when we share the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Romans 3:23-26 explains “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus, whom God displayed publicly as a

propitiation in His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness, because in God’s merciful restraint He let the sins previously committed go unpunished; for the demonstration, that is, of His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.” Those who have struggled with prideful and rebellion sin, repented and have been “born again” of the Spirit of God have been where those struggling now are and can help them at their level. We can go to the lost sinners as experienced ministry missionaries. We are privileged to witness for Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world.

Ephesians 6:19-20 “Pray in my behalf, that speech may be given to me in the opening of my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in proclaiming it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.”

Jesus came and died for the salvation of the world. Share the good news to all people in this lost and dying world that is currently in darkness and in bondage to sin. Bring the light of truth in mission; the light and love of Christ for life.

John 8:11-12 Jesus said, “Go. From now on do not sin any longer.” Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; the one who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.”

In Christ, Brian
