Pivot Points – Part Two

Hebrews 12:1-2 “Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

Continuing Pastor Obie’s message on Pivot Points, he says that the second thing to do when you reach a pivot point in life is to (2) Look forward. The Bible says in Ecclesiastes 7:10 Do not say, “Why were the former days better than these?” For you do not inquire wisely concerning this. We are tempted to look back. The old adage goes: “Those who look backwards know where they’ve been, but do not know where they are going.” Proverbs 4:25 says, “Let your eyes look straight ahead, and your eyelids look right before you.” The Apostle Paul explained in Philippians 3:13-14, “No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.” The power of Jesus Christ has set the sinner free. In a new season, you need to have a new mentality. Keep your head up and living for tomorrow and the future for the glory of God with the eternal perspective.

Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

The third thing to do when you reach a pivot point in life is to trust in the journey. Christians are on a different journey with a different purpose. Sometimes, we are more focused on the destination than the journey and we miss what God has in store for us along the way to mold, shape and teach us in leadership, patience and trust. Remember the lessons learned when leaving the desert seasons of life. Who will you turn out to be at the end.

Ephesians 2:10 “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”

The fourth thing to do when you reach a pivot point in life is to know that the end of one season is the beginning of a new season. God knows what He is doing and He is doing something in your life to grow you, to show you His love, and to show the Way, the Truth and the Life in Christ. We learn best when experiencing the life lessons. New seasons of ministry are awakening and activating within us to make an impact on our families, our sphere of influence, and our culture for the kingdom of Heaven by way of the love of God, who forgives sin by His mercy and grace through our faith in the gospel of Salvation, in the atoning death, resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ – our Savior and Lord.

In Christ, Brian
