Psalm 47:8 “God reigns over the nations; God sits on His holy throne.”
Last weekend, the nation
held it’s annual American Football Championship game, called the Super Bowl.
And each year, Christian Professional Football players produce a message for
America titled “Football Sunday” on the Kingdom of God and our true champion
that rules and reigns in Heaven and on earth, because in the distraction of
sports and entertainment in this world, it is important to have our priorities
straight.
Psalm 105:4
“Seek
the Lord and His strength; Seek His face evermore!”
The first godly principle
discussed by the National Football League (NFL) Christian players was “to
seek”. They defined the seeking Jesus in their life as “action” or pursuing
and chasing after the Lord with intentional purpose of following His holy Word,
Will and Way, in order to control the temptations of seeking the ungodly world
values and pursuits that surround us daily; to grab hold of what really needs
to be accomplished here and now as the most basic fundamentals of life. This is
what real faith is all about; having an authentic focus on the Lord – His love
and grace. This identifies who I am and why I do what I do. There is a real humbling
awakening when you realize what you are going through compared to what Jesus
Christ went through for our redemption and salvation.
Jeremiah 4:4 “O people
of Judah and Jerusalem, surrender your pride and power. Change your hearts
before the Lord, or my anger will burn like an unquenchable fire because
of all your sins.”
The second godly principle
discussed by the National Football League (NFL) Christian players was “to surrender”.
Romans 12:1-2 tells
us, “Dear brothers and sisters, I plead
with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let
them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is
truly the way to worship him. Don’t
copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a
new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s
will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” It is not about
quitting and it is not a weakness to surrender to the Lord, but about freeing
us and bringing us true and lasting peace in life, being in the space of faith
all the time … a place of pure joy and true fulfillment within the happiness of
holiness. Secular humanistic and hedonistic expectations are gone and big plans
for the glory of God remains.
Psalm 100:2 “Serve
the Lord with gladness; Come before His presence with singing.”
The third godly principle
discussed by the National Football League (NFL) Christian players was “to serve”.
Share the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ in meeting the needs of
others. Christ, himself, set the example of serving for us. With integrity,
offer what you have in Christ to other people – pray, go and give – impact
lives for good’s sake and for God’s sake. As a child of God, demonstrate a
genuine lifestyle of responding to your Heavenly Father. Jesus Christ died on
the Cross for the forgiveness of sin, then rose from the dead, conquering sin
and death, so that we may have live now and life eternal in heaven. Atheist
turned Christian, author and professor C.S. Lewis said: “I have come home at
last! This is my real country! I belong here. This is the land I have been
looking for all my life, though I never knew it till now.” God Bless
you as you have a super Sunday.
Proverbs 3:5-“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on
your own understanding; in
all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
