Ephesians 1:13-14 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the
gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with
the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until
the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.
Picking
up from yesterday, we continue with Pastor Herk”s thought-provoking sermon on
the third person of the Trinity – The Holy Spirit. The fifth of ten works of
the much-too-forgotten Holy Spirit in this world is (5) The Holy Spirit seals
the Believer. 2 Corinthians 1:21-22 “Now He who
establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God, who also has
sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.” 2
Corinthians 5:5-6 “Now He who has prepared us for this very
thing is God, who also
has given us the Spirit as a guarantee. So we are always confident.”
When we become a Believer, God brands us (my redeemed and saved child) with the
Holy Spirit. Completely God’s in eternity, guaranteed.
John 16:13-15 “However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you
into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but
whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of
what is Mine and declare it to you. All things that the Father has are Mine.
Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to
you.”
(6) The Holy Spirit guides us in godly personal relationship. Galatians 5:16-18, 22-25 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you
shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit,
and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy,
peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such
there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with
its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also
walk in the Spirit. The Spirit has to be working in
us for righteousness with God. He knows what He is doing and makes no mistakes.
Give the Holy Spirit room and spend extended time in prayer. Romans 8:26 “Likewise the Spirit also helps in our
weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the
Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”
Know that the Holy Spirit has a purpose for us, but know also that
we can grieve the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 4:30).
We shall continue tomorrow with this message on the Holy Spirit, that Pastor Herk says, "is the most important message of the year".
In Christ, Brian
