Holy Hotlines

Matthew 22:37-39 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”

In the words of philosophers Henley and Frey: “This big, bad world doesn’t owe you a thing.” The distractions and busyness of this “Rat Race” pace in a lost and dying sinful world will keep us wearing the ball and chain of discontent, believing that we deserve and are entitled to more and the best. Oh, and we get to define what “the best’ means too. So when we don’t get our way or have to wait, our whole world falls apart, because we want it all and we want it now. This is the consequences of boundless “wrong” thinking with unquenchable desires based on limitless focus on self that leads, neither to true happiness nor real contentment, but to the Poster list above from the meaningless and endless pursuit of “chasing after the wind” – Ecclesiastes 1:14.

Philippians 2:3-5 Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus.” The Holy Hotline is the Word, Will and Way of God. May we call it daily.

In Christ, Brian
