Trusting God - Part 2

Pastor Herk continues: Imagine your prayer for divine intervention and revival to stop and return to godliness and God replies, yes, there is evil in the land and I am going to fix it by raising up and bringing atheistic invaders and destroy this country for its wickedness as judgment. Why would God not bring judgment upon America for corporately turning it’s back on God and country? Can you imagine that fate? The repentant and born-again believe following the Lord should never shrug-off the evil and sin around us, become callus to it or acquiesce to it. We cannot just say: “oh well, that’s the way it is.” We see and experience all this sin happening around us in the world and the damage to individuals and society, but our God-bent Christian hearts should be moved with compassion for these people. People are accountable for their behavior and we cannot ignore or excuse sinful conduct, but if not for the grace of God, there walk I.

1 Corinthians 2:13-15 “These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one.”

Understand that repentant Believers, who love God and Follow Jesus, we see sin differently than the God-rejecting world does ... or we should! Yet, we are seeing the liberalization of our Christian churches that tolerate that which God’s Holy Word calls sin (condones sin, refines sin affirm and promote sin). Romans 1:28-32 says, “Since they thought it foolish to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their foolish thinking and let them do things that should never be done. Their lives became full of every kind of wickedness, sin, greed, hate, envy, murder, quarreling, deception, malicious behavior, and gossip. They are backstabbers, haters of God, insolent, proud, and boastful. They invent new ways of sinning, and they disobey their parents. They refuse to understand, break their promises, are heartless, and have no mercy. They know God’s justice requires that those who do these things deserve to die, yet they do them anyway. Worse yet, they encourage others to do them, too.” The Lord Jesus tells us in John 3:3, “I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God.” Has there actually been repentance of sin, a regeneration of the spirit and a transformation of the heart that continues to sinful rebel against God or tolerates it?

The God-abandoned world does not see sin as sin, because they have no standard or point of reference to live by. To the sinful world, acceptance to a deviant lifestyle is a good thing. But, Isaiah 5:20-21 says, “Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!” Acceptance of godless religions like Atheism is good in their God-rejecting minds. What God says is sin and not to be practiced in life, secular humanism sees as good and acceptable practices, demanding affirmation and promotion. Today, we see churches and denominations splitting because one side says that they are going to read and apply the Bible, the Holy Scriptures, the Word of God as an exclamation point, not a question mark. While the other half states that we have to be tolerant and we should accept these things. They do not come at Holy Scripture from an understanding of a disciple of Christ that believes there is a hoy and just God. Division or unity? What side are you on? Abandon God’s holy Word, Will and Way or live as God’s chosen and saved people?

Romans 1:17-21 “For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, ‘The just shall live by faith.’ For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.”

Let's conclude Pastor Herk's message on trusting God in the next post.

In Christ, Brian
