Biblical Accuracy in Science and Heaven

John 3:12 “If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things?”

I have read how many who profess to be Christian intellectuals today are arguing that we should defer to the evolutionists in matters of science and history, since the real message of the Bible is spiritual. It has been said that the Genesis account of Creation, for example, is not meant to give us details of the events of creation of the Cosmos and the beginning of life, for scientists can give us this information, where nobody was there to see anything happen. It merely assures us that God is somehow behind it all. But if this were all that God meant to tell us, the Bible’s very first verse is enough for that! What is the need to describe all the days and acts of creation at all if the record has no real relevance to history or science?

Job 38:4-7 “Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation? Tell me, if you understand. Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know! Who stretched a measuring line across it? On what were its footings set, or who laid its cornerstone—while the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy?

The writer points out: As the Lord Jesus told Nicodemus in John 3:12 (above), if we cannot trust God’s Word when it relates “earthly things,” how can we possibly rely on its testimony of “heavenly things”? To some extent we can check for ourselves whether or not it is accurate when it records facts of history and processes of nature. We have plenty of authentic Creation Scientists writing books and producing “Intelligent Design” videos based upon scientific observation and experimentation of facts in nature. Our Wednesday night small group Bible Study watches many of these great Creation verses Macro-Evolution videos and are tremendously amazed at the truth in God’s creation.  But, we have no means at all of determining whether it speaks the truth when it deals with heaven and hell, with God’s plan of salvation and eternal life, or with God’s purpose and plan for the world in the ages to come.

Romans 1:18-21 “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.”

The fact is that the Bible is accurate in all matters with which it deals, scientific and historical as well as spiritual and theological.
