Divine Appointments

Genesis 24:12 “Then he prayed, O Lord, God of my master Abraham, give me success today, and show kindness to my master Abraham.”

This last week, Pastor Kyle continued in his Sunday sermon series based upon the book of Genesis stating that streaming video has changed the way that people get discovered and become an overnight success today. But, in reality, there are no actual overnight success stories because everyone prepares and makes wise choices for the opportunity when the break shows up. The only One who can really advance our life is God. He has put us all here and now, on paths to Divine appointments. And, when you walk in the Spirit, there are Divine appointments all over the plan because the Lord put you and I here for a reason and given us clear and specific orders.

Proverbs 15:21-23 “folly delights a man who lacks judgment, but a man of understanding keeps a straight course. Plans fail of lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed. A man finds joy in giving an apt reply – and how good is a timely word!”

Pastor Kyle gives us six steps on how to create an environment where wise choices are the most likely to meet Divine appointments: (1) Front-End preparation. Many times in life, we fail to prepare on the front-end and fail to capitalize on the back-end. Be authentic and well-prepared in alignment with God’s holy Word, will and Way. Life is not about an image or a show that we project to other. The indwelling Holy Spirit shall give you and I guidance and protection along paths of righteousness. (2) Continuous prayer. Cultivate a deep and continuous prayer life because prayer puts the “power” in “preparation” of our plan.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 says, “Be joyful always; pray continuously; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

(3) Have a solid plan for success. Do not expect God to provide alone; put yourself in the position to succeed. Yet, it is important to plan, not only for a Plan “B” for the potential roadblocks and failures but also for a Plan “A” for what to do when you succeed because that is the goal. Think through your plan and contingencies, but know that our plan may not be God’s plan. (4) Have a focus on your character development, not just in your results. Be extremely cautious not to put the Lord to the test … no “fleece test” (if you do this, then I’ll do that test) of God allowed”. He is the sovereign Creator of heaven and Earth, and everything that lives and has breath, and has total dominion of all that He has created and sustains. We need to reveal a servant’s heart, seeing a need as another Divine appointment and godly meeting it, showing God’s work in life.

2 Corinthians 3:10-12 “For what was glorious has no glory now in comparison with the surpassing glory. And if what was fading away came with glory, how much greater is the glory that lasts! Therefore, since we have such a hope we are very bold.”

(5) Have a boldness to step out there and go for it. Generally, we should take more time in decision-making. But, when Devine appointments appear in front of us, we need to act. There are no “bait and switch” issues going on with the Lord. Do whatever God wants you to do. (6) Have humility at every step. There are people who do the task, but not give all their heart and effort with a godly attitude into it. Be the kind of person that is prepared for the Devine appointments along life’s path to glory. You have the power to prepare and put yourself in the position to receive Divine appointments by God and be blessed.

In Christ, Brian
