Let's Try God’s Plan – Part 1 – On Mission

Genesis 12:2-3 “I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; And you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

This last Sunday, Pastor Willie Nolte preached a sermon on our church’s new series “What America Really Needs”, which he titled “Let’s Try God’s plan. “We’re on a mission and nothing is going to stop us” was the theme of the classic musical comedy film titled “The Blue Brothers”, starring original Saturday Night Live cast John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd. But, what if the church believed that they were on a mission from God and nobody was going to stop them? Believed it, embraced it, practiced it and lived it out daily, because what this really needs is God, but God’s plan to reach the lost is the church. Listen up people of God! God actually has a plan to redeem the world, so how about we try Go’s plan and see where that leads?

Luke 19:10 “For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”

God’s love is evident by His actions. The church was the Lord’s idea and the church is the greatest and best hope for the world. America has a church to seek and save the lost, and God’s mission is the lost world. God has a church body for His mission. But in America, the church thinks that the church is the mission, not the lost world. If the church will not get “on mission”, then God will find someone else. Deuteronomy 7:6 says:  “For you are a holy people to the Lord your God; the Lord your God has chosen you to be a people for Himself.”

Acts 3:25 “You are sons of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying to Abraham, ‘And in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed.’”

God’s people were formed to receive His blessing. But, being His people, we have been blessed to be a blessing to others in the name of Jesus Christ. We should enjoy the great blessings of God, but bring blessings to the world. The people of God are the vehicle to bring the blessing; His plan is to use His people. 1 Peter 2:9 says, “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” A priest’s job is to make the connection between god and people … to bring the gospel of Jesus Christ and to bring a blessing.

Let's continue Willie's message on "What America really Needs" tomorrow.
In Christ, Brian
