Colossians
1:13-20 “He (Father God) has delivered us from the domain of darkness
and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we
have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. He is the image of the
invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all
things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible,
whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were
created through him and for him. And he is before all things,
and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the
body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead,
that in everything he might be preeminent. For in him all the fullness
of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself
all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood
of his cross.”
Over
the summer, our Wednesday evening Bible Study group has been presenting topical
lessons on seeing the Intelligent Design of the Creator in His Creation. In
this day and age that we live, there are multitudes of Christian Creation
Scientists producing documentaries available on the complexity of physical, molecular
and biological science that defies macro-Evolution and exposes the
impossibility of the Darwinian Theory. So, we are using them and being
incredibly blessed with the truth that in the beginning, God created … all
things.
John
1:1-3
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with
God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was
made that was made.”
I
read lately that the phrase “all things” is used throughout these verses to
emphasize that everything has been brought into existence by the “beloved Son”,
the Word, Jesus Christ. There are five “all
things” facts about creation: (1) All things were created through Him and for
Him. (2) All things consist (stand together) in Him. (3) All things will give
preeminence to Him. (4) All things reside in His fullness. (5) All things will
be reconciled to Him. The list of created things in the opening passage of Holy
Scripture from Colossians is exhaustive: Heaven, Earth, visible and invisible
things, and the rulers in and of the universe—thrones, dominions,
principalities, powers.
Ephesians 1:17-21 “That the God of our
Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom
and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being
enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the
riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the
exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the
working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him
from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far
above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is
named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.”
That
article concluded that our Creator God existed before all things and now
“approves” all things. “I am Alpha and Omega,
the beginning and the ending, says the Lord, which is, and which was, and which
is to come, the Almighty” - Revelation 1:8. These grand sweeps
of eternity are anchors for our Christian faith. “By Him all things were created, in heaven and on earth,
visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all
things were created through Him and for Him. All things were made through Him, and
without Him nothing was made that was made.”
In
Christ, Brian
