Colossians
1:19-22 “For it pleased the
Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, and by Him to
reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in
heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross. And you, who
once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has
reconciled in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy,
and blameless, and above reproach in His sight.”
The
drawing power of Christ was in the crucifixion with its agonizing slow death by
suffocation while painfully impaled by his hands and feet ... for us. The
crucifixion draws people from every walk of life and from every tongue and
nation. It is a powerful magnet because it shows the incredible love of God. It
is the love of a Father who would give His only Son to endure the penalty for
the sin of the world (yours and mine). It is the incredible love of a Son who
would come into this world and suffer and die for us.
Hebrews
12:1-2 “Therefore we also,
since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside
every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run
with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the
author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before
Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand
of the throne of God.”
In Christ, Brian
