Proverbs 18:10 “The name of the Lord is a fortified tower; the
righteous run to it and are safe.”
I remember watching a Christian
Sunday documentary by Coral Ridge ministries, where an Interviewer ask people on
the street about how they felt about their being “lost” and not a one thought
that they were lost. Since they were not “lost”, then they had no need to be “saved”;
let alone in need of a “Savior”. They were blind to the seriousness of their
sin and the severity of the consequences for sin. This shaped my personal motto
of: “You must be lost before you can be found and saved.” In general, until one
realizes that they are going under, they will not accept help. When one
realizes that they are utterly lost in sin, hopelessly unable to reconcile the
situation on their own, and that only Christ can save them, they should not
delay a moment but come immediately to Christ. Unfortunately, zeal without
sacrifice is dead, as is faith without works. We demonstrate it by a changed
and sacrificial born again life, walking in the Spirit.
Psalm 18:2 “The Lord is
my rock, my
fortress and
my deliverer; my
God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my
shield and
the horn of
my salvation, my
stronghold.”
We hear about those who push the
limits to see how close to the old sin nature and the fallen world system they
can get and still be saved, but that’s an oxymoron. We cannot have one foot in
the boat and the other foot on the dock; one foot in Christ and the other in
the God-rejecting world. We have to be “all in”; hot or cold. All who hasten
wholeheartedly to Christ, sincerely seeking to know and serve Him, will find
salvation in His name, for “the name of the Lord is a strong tower: the
righteous run into it, and are safe.”
In Christ, Brian
