Visible Through Everything God Made

Last Friday evening and all day Saturday, my friend Scott and I, voluntarily set up and ran an exhibitor's table at the Calvary Chapel Apologetics Conference in Costa Mesa, California for Illustra Media. The objectives were, by priority (1) Ministry - to advance the kingdom of God through the media of truth in creation of the intelligent design of nature's Creator by these exceptional documentaries, (2) Exposure - publicity that this godly film-maker and their high-quality, faith-based and faith- confirming feature movies exist and present scientific evidence and explanations for God's creation, simply by bringing the irreducible complexity, the mathematically impossible natural probabilities and unexplainable-by-evolution that we find on Earth today by presenting the facts of the natural complexity that defy Darwinian-Evolution, by their obvious intelligent design, and point to an intelligent Designer God. . (3) Support - to come alongside a ministry that truly produces excellent resources which enrich and transform their lives. That gives the unbeliever an honest answer to their questions of an invisible Creator God in nature and to the Believer a tangible confirmation of their faith. These wonderful films come at great expense. To support (in time, prayer and financially) and seek like-minded individuals and groups willing to do likewise for such a worthy cause as touching lives with truth for Christ's sake. (4) Resource Distribution - putting the firms into the hands of the people at great prices to watch, use in their churches, use in home-schooling and loan to others to watch so that they may be blessed also. Pass the light of the truth of God so that others may see. Illustra Media has been blessed to be a blessing to us all. Here is what Lad wrote:

Dear Brian, Every time we complete a film, we post several short excerpts on YouTube to promote the new documentary.  Not surprisingly, these clips evoke a wide spectrum of responses that range from effusive praise (“So powerful.  Why isn’t this being shown in every  school?”)…to high voltage hostility (“This is garbage.  It’s why atheists think Christians are fools!”). I seldom have time to read these reviews, and their sentiments are often so polarizing it’s difficult to formulate any helpful perspective.   But, I confess, occasionally curiosity gets the best of me and I take a look.   A couple of months ago, I was glad I did.                I came across a comment by a viewer identified as “Ahmed N.”   It was written in response to a clip from our film FLIGHT:  The Genius of Birds, where we documented the embryonic development of a bird inside an egg. After watching it, Ahmed wrote: "I gotta’ be honest.  Even as an agnostic, this makes me wonder how could something so complex, so intricate and perfectly calculated exist simply out of the common consensus of mechanisms of evolution? I don’t know what it is, but it feels like there's a conscious design responsible for orchestrating something as mind mind-bogglingly complex as this." I was surprised by Ahmed’s candor. Usually, an agnostic worldview leads people directly to Darwinian evolution as the only acceptable explanation for the diversity of life on Earth.   In the process, they reject the possibility of intelligent design. But, that wasn’t happening here.  Why not? As I thought more about Ahmed’s response, an email I’d received, and a passage of Scripture I loved, both came to mind. First, the email: "I cannot commend your films highly enough.  You develop your arguments with great care and the full force of reason…gently grasping the viewer by the hand and walking the path of logical progression.  Nothing is heavy-handed and the production quality is superb. These films are perfect for my skeptical, agnostic, evolution-leaning acquaintances who wouldn’t pay attention to a religious discussion for 10 seconds."                                     Then, the Scripture: Ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities —his eternal power and divine nature.                                                                            Romans 1:20 The evidence for God is everywhere we look.  And, it speaks eloquently for itself.  If, as filmmakers, we can present it in a manner that is engaging and well reasoned, then we can reach a skeptical world with some of the most important truths in the universe. Maybe that’s why “Ahmed N” watched – and objectively considered – a YouTube clip from one of our films. For more than 18 years, Illustra Media as explored the beauty, majesty, and wonder of creation through glimpses of the cosmos and the living world that declare the reality of a Creator.  It’s been an extraordinary experience and all of us are blessed by the knowledge that our films have touched millions of minds and hearts throughout the world. Our desire to continue this work is still strong and this battle for truth is far from over.  We havve several new projects in the pipeline (including possible sequels to Unlocking the Mystery of Life and The Privileged Planet) that we’re anxious to begin.
