Matthew 26:42 “ He went away again the second time, and prayed,
saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it,
thy will be done.”
I had read that in Jesus’ agonized prayer in
the Garden Of Gethsemane , where in Luke 22:44 we
are told that “being
in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops
of blood falling down to the ground”, we see the total submission of Christ to
the Father. We see the struggle between life and death in God’s Plan of
Salvation, a cosmic struggle with every soul on earth in the balance. The
victory was in submission with four little words. This short little prayer: “Thy
will be done” has been called “the prayer that never fails.” God always and
answers this prayer. Throughout our life, we need to pray it continually as we
daily give control of our live to God.
Luke 11:2 And he said unto them, “When ye pray, say, Our Father
which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done,
as in heaven, so in earth.”
We should pray: “Lord, use
me today for Your great purposes and for Your glory.” There are always all
kinds of opportunities to serve His plan. I had heard before that this prayer: “Not my will, but
thine, be done”, demonstrates the difference between a Christian prayer and
a pagan prayer. When a non-Believer
prays, they try to harness the spiritual powers of God’s creation and cosmos to
do their bidding and proclaim: “As I will, so it must be”; worshipping the creature
as a part of creation, without the Creator, creating their
own divine rules to plant their flag, make their stand and live or die by; a phantom phantasy
in their mind. Creator God creates the rules and defines destinies. When one says in thought, word or deed: “My will is to not obey
God, nor believe in the Savior Jesus – the Way, the Truth and the Life”, then
Almighty Creator God says: “Not My will, but thy will be done” and they are
lost in their unforgiven sin. And if Jesus, sent by our heavenly Father out of
His pure love and mercy, does not pay for their sin, then they must pay for
their sin eternally. That is why we need to have compassion on the “lost” and
bring them the “good news” of the gospel of Jesus Christ, who paid the price of
sin in full for all those who believe. Salvation and forgiveness, freedom and
life are found in no other.
Luke 22:42 “Father, if thou be
willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.”
In Christ, Brian

"FATHER, not My will, But THY Will Be Done"!
The focus, the focal point of pagan "catholicism", and the more than 30,000(according to statistical data) systems of religion that declare themselves to be "christian" is their version of a messiah which they call their "christ".......
Yet it seems the focus, the focal point and the desire of those who seek to follow The Messiah on that "Narrow Way", that IS "The Way, The TRUTH, and The Life"! It seems their focal point and desire should be the same as The Messiah's focal point and desire! (Matthew 7:14, John 14:6)
And The Messiah's focal point and desire?
"FATHER, not My will, But THY Will Be Done"! (Luke 22:42)
The Messiah's focus, His focal point was "His FATHER and GOD"! And His desire was to do both The Will and GOOD Pleasure of His FATHER and GOD! HE WHO IS also The "FATHER and GOD" of His brethren(naturally male or 'fe'male) as well! (John 6:38, Philippians 2:13, John 20:17, Matthew 16:24-26)com/2015/02/the-messiah-beginning-of-creation-of.html
"Our FATHER and GOD" indeed and TRUTH! (John 20:17)
And TRUTH IS! The Messiah testified, "I can do nothing of my own self"....... (John 5:19,30; 8:28-29; 7:16; 9:4; 12:49-50; 14:10,23-24; 17:8,14)
Can His brethren do anything more?
