Job 38:4-7 “Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation? Tell me, if
you understand. Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you
know! Who stretched a measuring line across it? On what were its footings set, or who laid
its cornerstone — while the morning stars sang
together and all the angels shouted for
joy?
Our Wednesday night bible Study group has
began the third set of videos in the “That the World May Know” series with host
Ray Vander Laan. Ray points out that we are almost all just average people of
varying degrees of influence; not the power brokers of our world. But, we look
at our world and see the power – particularly the power of evil that exists –
and it seems so big, so strong, and so awesome that we wonder: “What can we
ordinary people do about it”? But, you have to believe that no matter what it
looks like out there; no matter how big the ungodly world looks, no matter how
powerful secular government and greedy financial institutions act, no matter
how evil godless immorality seems to be out of control, no matter how
undefeatable hatred, world hunger, drug abuse and epidemic diseases appear to
be … Jesus Christ is King! It’s not the government, it’s not the devil, it’s
not evil; it’s God.
Isaiah 55:8-9 “For my thoughts are not your
thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my
ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
Vander Laan asks; Do you
dare to live as if God is stronger than the evil that we face in our own lives
and in our culture today? Do you dare to live as if the power that we have with
us in the Lord is greater than any power in anything that you face in your life that is
against you? He maintains that we have not lived that way. Ray maintains that we
have lived as if the secular society and the evil power of today is really
stronger, saying that evil is too big and too strong. We live as if God is not
big enough or strong enough to do what we want Him to do.
Numbers 13:33 “There we saw the giants;
and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.”
But, no matter what it looks
like, no matter how strong it seems, no matter how glorious it appears, it’s
our Creator God that is Lord of Heaven and Earth. Note: Matthew
2:1-2 “Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod
the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, saying, “Where is He
who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East
and have come to worship Him.” Who was and is the real King? How big is your God?
In Christ, Brian
