Acts
5:27-32 And when they had brought them, they set them before the council. And the high
priest asked them, saying, “Did we not strictly command you not to teach
in this name? And look, you have filled Jerusalem
with your doctrine, and intend to bring this Man’s blood on us!” But Peter and the other apostles answered and said: “We ought to obey God rather
than men. The God of our fathers raised up Jesus whom you
murdered by hanging on a tree. Him God has exalted to His right hand to be Prince and Savior, to give
repentance to Israel
and forgiveness of sins. And we are His witnesses to these things, and so also is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him.”
Making another trip up to Bass Lake ,
California to visit and comfort my
dad due to the loss of his 15 year companion, also allowed me to attend Sunday
Worship at my dad’s church and listen to another inspiring message from Pastor
Herk at Little Church in the Pines. He explained that in times of trouble and
uncertainty, we need to stand firm while doing the “right” thing, trusting God
to get us through, even though we are not seeing how from where we are standing.
In a season that looks totally insurmountable, know that our omnipotent God is
with you, His grace enough for you, and He has a plan that is unstoppable.
Matthew 19:26 Jesus looked at them and said, “With
man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
Stand up,
trusting God for the truth. In Psalm 25:5, King David writes: “Lead me in Your truth and
teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; On You I wait all
the day.” In John 14:6, Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life.”, then tells us in
John
16:13
“But when he,
the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth.”
Through
the Holy Spirit, stand in boldness; focused not on man, but on the Almighty Lord.
The mission of the Gospel Salvation story is unstoppable. In that mission, our All-powerful
Creator God calls us to (1) do the impossible and equips us to do it. There is
an end to injustice. Fear won’t get us through, but love and courage define the
child of God. When we encounter the Holy Spirit, everything changes.
2 Timothy 1:7 “For God has not given us a spirit of timidity,
but of power and love and discipline.”
Pastor Herk explains that the
indwelling Holy Spirit compels us to speak the truth in love; declare it and we
cannot keep our mouth shut about it. Truth is Divine reality with assurance of
grace. The more opposition, the more unstoppable we are in God’s strength when
we are relying on Him completely. How big is your God? God’s strength, not our
own, brings strength to improve and serve the Lord. It’s only when we hit the
limits of our own ability that we learn to lean on God’s infinite ability. (2)
God empowers us to be unstoppable.
Philippians
4:13
confirms, “I can do all things through Him
who strengthens me.” God has different pans and a
different call for us.
Let's finish Pastor Herk's message on Almighty God tomorrow.
In Christ, Brian
