Does Anybody Really Know What Time it is? Part 2

Psalm 101:2-4 I will be careful to lead a blameless life — when will you come to me? I will conduct the affairs of my house with a blameless heart. I will not look with approval on anything that is vile. I hate what faithless people do; I will have no part in it. The perverse of heart shall be far from me; I will have nothing to do with what is evil.”

Dr. Sproul states in the article that the times in which we live are exceedingly challenging to the church of Jesus Christ. In a fatal pursuit of relevance today, the church has often became merely an echo of the secular culture in which it lives, having a disparate desire to be “with the times” and acceptable to the contemporary world. In doing so, the church has adopted the very moral relativism it seeks to overcome, thereby enslaving themselves. In stead of the church change this temporal culture for Christ, the culture is changing the church from eternal biblical morality. When it is it not right to upset the lost and dying, God-rejecting world system with the holy gospel message of sin and salvation, then the church has no problem upsetting God, and that is disturbing.

James 4:4 You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.”

Who are we really committed to? This is a “Fallen world”; Sanctity and Salvation is the goal. What is demanded by times such as ours is a church that addresses the temporal while at the same time remains tethered to the eternal – without itself abandoning the eternal and the holy. Love God, love the sinner; hate the sin. Time is ticking by. Reach the condemned, while remaining blameless in the eyes of the Lord. Never miss the Mark of the high calling of God.

Ephesians 1:8-12 With all wisdom and understanding, he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ. In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, in order that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory.”

We need churches filled with Christians who are not enslaved by the culture, churches that seek more than anything to please God and His only begotten Son, rather than to attract the applause of dying men and women. Where is that church that Christ established? Does anybody really know what time it is? That is the church whose mission is to minister redemption to a dying world, not make folks comfortable in their sin and be a part of the problem. God help us and our culture, if our ears become deaf to that call. The time is now to act for God.

Psalm 69:13But I pray to you, Lord, in the time of your favor; in your great love, O God, answer me with your sure salvation.”

In Christ, Brian
