Matthew 28:18-20 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on
earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of
the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded
you. And behold, I am with you
always, to the end of the age.”
At this
week’s Elder Board meeting, we finished the business and vision portion of the monthly
conference of church leaders, when Pastor Rick changed the discussion towards
the spiritual ministry and vision for the Elders as overseers and pastoral role
models of the congregation, asking : “What each of us see the church as,
because ministry starts with the Elders? The evangelism for and the ministry of
the kingdom of Jesus Christ was unanimously agreed as
the root identity, purpose and mission of this church. Developing bold
outreach, powerful prayer, passionate witnessing for Christ, faithfully walking
with the Spirit, confidently living for the Lord, and hearing God’s voice, while
encouraging and empowering people, helping others to find forgiveness and
salvation at the foot of the cross, develop people/Jesus relationships in
discipleship for life transformation and spiritual well-being, giving back to
the community with godly things to do and godly people to do them. The
co-themes for this mission are: (1) “Share Christ” - Ministry and (2) “Come and See”
- Evangelism. And Jesus said, “I am with you always.”
In Christ,
Brian
