Finding Normal

I remember a Preacher one Sunday morning telling us that we need to carefully monitor what goes into our "eye gate" and "ear gate" in order to guard our hearts and minds, meaning that we need to realize that there are competing world-views to God's holy Word, Will, and Way standard for our life and we need to be sensitive to them, discerning and discriminating to that which is not pleasing in the sight of the Lord, to keep from allowing such contrary media as personal entertainment. We all have entertainment choices in movies, television and DVD's for ourselves and our families, and just because the the God-rejecting world system is normalizing immorality and godless pursuit for happiness in a departure from biblical morals and ethics doesn't mean that they are "normal". Finding God and living by His holy Word, Will, and Way is the norm in normal. We are to be wise children of God in our choices as to what we watch and listen to. Find God's normal and be normal, with our life aligned with Him.

This last month, I was a the Christianbook.com website and found a massive DVD list of Christian produced feature movies on sale, so bought a few to watch and share with family. Last night, my wife and I watched one of these movie titled: "Finding Normal". A romance/comedy/drama with a message on what "being normal" really means. Here's the synopsis: The only thing standing between Dr. Lisa Leland (Candice Cameron Bure - D.J. on Full House) and the wedding of her dreams in the Hamptons is a 2600-mile drive from Los Angeles to Long Island. However, a run in with the law in the country town of Normal, Louisiana leaves Dr. Leland with a choice--Jail or community service. Sentenced to serve three days as the town's doctor, Lisa has her world turned upside down by a man she would never expect. Quickly, Lisa finds that there's a lot more to Normal than she could have ever imagined.

One of the biggest problems for good Christian moral base entertainment is knowing that it exists and where to find it. After enjoying this family-friendly movie, I wanted to recommend it to all of you. Here is the movie trailer for you to take a peek. I hope that you get to see this fine movie. Click and watch.

I watched this about 2 weeks ago on Netflix and truly enjoyed it. I plan to watch it again with my daughter. Even with movies billed as Christian, I like to preview them for content. Thanks for the recommendation! I second it! :)

In my Christian circles, some like the "documentary" type Christian movies and some like the "dramatic story with a message" type Christian movie. "Finding Normal" falls into the latter category and is both entertaining with godly values communicated. You laugh, may cry a little, but surely will have your heart touched and feel good at the end. I'm happy that you liked it as much as we did. Blessings to you and yours Larri.
