The National Day of Prayer 2014

1 Thessalonians 5:17 “Pray without ceasing.”

O eternal and everlasting God, Direct my thoughts, words and work. Wash away my sins in the immaculate blood of the lamb, and purge my heart by thy Holy Spirit, from the dross of my natural corruption, that I may with more freedom of mind and liberty of will serve thee, the ever lasting God, in righteousness and holiness this day, and all the days of my life.
Increase my faith in the sweet promises of the Gospel. Give me repentance from dead works. Pardon my wanderings, & direct my thoughts unto thyself, the God of my salvation. Teach me how to live in thy fear, labor in thy service, and ever to run in the ways of thy commandments. Make me always watchful over my heart, that neither the terrors of conscience, the loathing of holy duties, the love of sin, nor an unwillingness to depart this life, may cast me into a spiritual slumber. But daily frame me more and more into the likeness of thy son Jesus Christ, that living in thy fear, and dying in thy favor, I may in thy appointed time attain the resurrection of the just unto eternal life. Bless my family, friends & kindred unite us all in praising & glorifying thee in all our works begun, continued, and ended, when we shall come to make our last account before thee blessed Saviour, who hath taught us thus to pray, our Father.

Thank you for writing Steve. The Bible is the Holy Scriptures given to mankind through the Holy Spirit dictating to inspired men as "Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth". Ancient secular historians and modern archeology verify the facts of the Bible as true. Why do men not accept God's biblical historical facts by faith? NAtural man's unbelief in their sovereign creator God, who makes the rules and they are responsible and accountable. 1 Corinthians 2:14 tells us. “the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” Jesus explains to us in John 3:3, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” But the Apostle Peter also explains in 2 Peter 3:9, "The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance." That is why our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ says in Revelation 3:20 “ Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me.” Man sinned, but God provided the Way, the Truth and the Life through repentance and faith in the Blessed Redeemer ... and that by faith.
