Scientific Investigation for Truth – Part Five

Psalm 95:1-6 “Come, let us sing to the Lord! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come to him with thanksgiving. Let us sing psalms of praise to him. For the Lord is a great God, a great King above all gods. He holds in his hands the depths of the earth and the mightiest mountains. The sea belongs to him, for he made it. His hands formed the dry land, too. Come, let us worship and bow down. Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.

Resuming Focus on the Family’s “Truth Project” study on the battle over creation verses evolution in Science, and host Dr. Del Tackett notes that everywhere we look we see astonishing order, incredible complexity, and extraordinary harmony in nature, associated with design, with a designer. Science is about God’s beauty and grandeur in life. Charles Darwin stated: “If it could be demonstrated that any complex organ existed which could not possibly have been from by numerous, successive, slight modifications, my theory would absolutely break down.”

Co-Founder of the Center for Science and Culture of the Discovery Institute, Dr. Stephen Meyer explains, “In the 19^th century, biologist thought that cells were made of simple homogeneous globules of plasma. Post 1953, with the discovery of the structure of DNA and also the information bearing properties of DNA, we can no longer look at the cell in the same way. And what we are now discovering is that the cell is chalk full of exquisite miniature organic machines, microscopic turbines, tiny rotary engines, and  little walking robots that cart material from one end of the cell to the other. Now in our experience, all of those kinds of entities are produced by one cause and only one cause and it is intelligence. And that again challenges materialism because the materialistic worldview of the 19^th century said there are two fundamental realities: matter and energy. What we are now discovering is that there is a third fundamental reality and that is “information”, and everything we know about information is that it must come from an intelligent cause. The presence if information in living systems suggests an intelligence that pre-exists us that is responsible for all that exquisite nano-technology information.”

Proverbs 30:4 “Who but God goes up to heaven and comes back down? Who holds the wind in his fists? Who wraps up the oceans in his cloak? Who has created the whole wide world? What is his name—and his son’s name? Tell me if you know!”

Professor Emeritus of Biology at San Francisco State University – Dr. Dean H. Kenyon, who received a Bachelor of Science in Physics from the University of Chicago, and a Ph.D. in Biophysics from Stanford University, states: “This is absolutely mind-boggling to perceive at this scale of size, such finely tuned apparatus, a device that bears the marks of intelligent design and manufacture. And we have the details of an immensely complex molecular realm of genetic information processing and it is exactly this new realm of molecular genetics where we see the most compelling evidence of design on earth.” English molecular biologist, biophysicist, and neuroscientist Francis Crick, (1916-2004), most noted for being a co-discoverer of the structure of the DNA molecule in 1953 commented: “An honest man, armed with all the knowledge available to us could now state that in some sense, the origin of life appears at the moment to be almost a miracle, so many are the conditions which would have had to have been satisfied to get it going.” Mathematicians tell us that any event with an improbability greater than one chance in 10 to the 50^th power is in the realm of metaphysics -- i.e. a miracle.

Isaiah 44:24 This is what the Lord says- your Redeemer and Creator: “I am the Lord, who made all things. I alone stretched out the heavens. Who was with me when I made the earth?”

American scientist George Wald (1906 –1997) declared: “Most modern biologists, having reviewed with satisfaction the downfall of the spontaneous generation hypothesis (life from non-life), yet unwilling to accept the alternative belief in special creation, are left with nothing. I think a scientist has no choice but to approach the origin of life through the hypothesis of spontaneous generation. One has only to contemplate the magnitude of this task to concede spontaneous generation of a living organism is impossible. Yet here we are, as a result, I believe in spontaneous generation.” Wald is basically saying that if the evidence points “outside the box” of materialism, we won’t go there. That is not science. Why not go where the evidence leads? He does not want to acknowledge a Creator. He is stuck on his pre-supposition that there can be no special creation. He has exchanged the truth for a lie.

American biochemist, and author Michael J. Behe (1952-present, who currently serves as professor of biochemistry at Lehigh University explained: “To Darwin, the cell was a ‘black box’ - its inner workings were utterly mysterious to him. Now, the black box has been opened up and we know how it works. Applying Darwin’s test to the ultra-complex world of molecular machinery and cellular systems that have been discovered over the past 40 years, we can say that Darwin’s theory has ‘absolutely broken down’. A complex system that could not function if it were any simpler, and therefore could not possibly have formed by successive additions to a precursor system with the same functionality.” If Darwin’s evolution by natural selection theory has broken down, then why is it taught as fact? Carl Sagan said: “Evolution is a fact amply demonstrated by the fossil record.” Let look at that next post.
