A Special Prayer For Our Country

Isaiah 25:9  In that day they will say, “Surely this is our God;  we trusted in him, and he saved us. This is the Lord, we trusted in him; let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation.”
From my small “Book of Common Prayer”, titled simply: “Campaign Prayer Book” published in 1897 and distributed to American Servicemen of the Armed Forced, deployed for Duty on the battlefield of this world, this “Independence Day 2013”, I take and post this “Special Prayer For Our Country”:

Almighty God, who in the former time didst lead our fathers forth to form this godly nation; Give Thy grace, we humbly beseech thee, to us their children, that we may always approve ourselves a people mindful of thy favor and glad to do thy will.

Bless our land with honorable industry, sound learning and pure manners. Defend our liberties; preserve our unity. Save us from lawlessness and violence; from arrogancy, and from every evil way.

Fashion into one godly people the multitude brought hither out of many kindreds and tongues. Endue with the trust in thy Name with the authority of governance, to the end that there may be good government at home and peace with all the world.

In the time of prosperity, fill our hearts with thankfulness; and in the day of trouble, suffer not our trust in thee to fall. All which we ask, we ask for Jesus Christ’s sake. Amen.

Romans 15:13  May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Happy Independence Day and God Bless America!

In Christ, Brian
